Say hello to Daphne! Daphnie is a 4 year old, shih-tzu mix. She's currently 10lbs, but is working on adding a few pounds to regain her girlish figure and optimal health. (We know she looks more like a schnauzer right now, but she is definitely a 'fluffy' not a terrier!). When she first arrived, Daphne needed a complete shave down due to an extreme lack of grooming, but with the right pet parent to care for her, this little girl is going to look STUNNING in her silky, silvery coat. Daphne is new to the rescue so her foster is still learning her personality, but we know she is sweet, friendly, curious and loves to get her own way! She's got an outdoorsy side that revels in neighborhood walks and rolling in the grass... but, enjoys her snuggle time on the couch too. She's been playful with the other small dogs in her foster home and was a social butterfly with everyone at a recent adoptions event (especially if you have a treat!) She has not been tested with cats. She walks great on a leash. Does not appear to have destructive behaviors, but we are working on house-breaking. It's going well, accidents are likely due to all the changes she's gone through recently. Daphne will require professional grooming every other month or sooner. Due to her past neglect, a grooming reference with the application will be required (please add to the notes section.) Meet Sir Didy! He is 2 years and weights 13 lbs, Shih Tzu/Pug mix. He is a very shy guy. He will need a patient owner that is a good leader to show him that the world is a good place. He has spent the last several months hiding under a couch to escape a home full of younger kids. He will need a home with no kids of any age! He needs quiet and calm. He was born in our care 2 years ago and his mom and littermates were shy as well. Just in the 2 months with his foster mom he has opened up nicely and loves pets and playing with the other dogs. He does good with dogs and cats. He will need a fenced in yard (no electric fences or doggy doors), since he does not care to use the bathroom on a leash. Didy is ready for someone to show him love and a peaceful world. This animal is current on all age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and spayed/neutered or will go home with an already scheduled appointment. They have also been given flea prevention. I have more videos on the rescue website! My name is Pepper. I weigh 7 lbs. (2/16). I am one in a litter of three. We were born around November 15. We are fostered in Mount Airy, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. Our mom weighed 7 pounds and our dad weighed 10 pounds. They were both family pets with great dispositions. We all have long bodies and short legs. We are not considered hypoallergenic or non-shedding since we are mixed breed puppies. We are well socialized and very loving. We love being held and petted, and we always greet our foster mom at the door with wagging tails and lots of kisses. We love to play with toys and with each other. We do like to chew on fingers and toes so we definitely need some training in this area. We have a medium energy level. We are working on house training. We sleep in a crate every night and we have learned not to potty in our crate. As soon as our crate door is opened every morning we run straight to the door to go outside and potty. We are good with the other dogs and love to play with them. I am the boldest of the three and the first to try anything new. I love to snooze in my foster’s lap! We provide hours of entertainment to our foster mom just watching us play. We are pretty typical puppies - we eat, sleep, play, and then start all over again. We have so much love to give and we are ready to go to our new forever homes! We will not be adopted in to homes with small children because we are so small. We are up-to-date on our puppy shots and we have been dewormed. We have already had a check up by the veterinarian.
