Charlie is a four year old, 16 lbs. male Shih Tzu who is shy and quiet. He has a beautiful black coat. He loves snuggling right next to you and looks up at you with complete adoration in his big, dark eyes. Charlie is pee pad trained and he never misses. He is working on going outside, which will be easy since he loves treats and rewards and being petted. He is great on his daily walks too. Charlie is very friendly and likes people and other dogs and can be playful at times. He is timid and shy, so it takes him a bit to warm up to strangers and will watch and assess them from a safe corner. Charlie needs a quiet house with a family who will be patient and continue to draw him out of his shell. He needs a home with another quiet dog to keep him company, and help him socialize. Hi! I’m Gladys, a 6-year-old, 10-pound rescued Shih Tzu and former mill mama. Despite my past, you’d hardly guess I came from a puppy mill—I’m naturally drawn to people and warm up quickly, even if I’m a little shy around new things. Whenever my foster mom enters the room, I get so excited that my whole body wiggles, and I eagerly jump up to be held. I’ve adjusted well to a routine and have had very few accidents, even though I’m not a fan of the chilly weather! I’m still learning about leashes, but with time, I think I’ll do great. My foster mom’s dog is fun to follow around, though I mostly keep to myself and enjoy coexisting peacefully. While I haven’t shown interest in toys yet, I love finding sticks in the yard and am always excited about treats! This sweet Shih Tzu mix, born around July 16, 2023, has had a rough start in life but is ready to find a loving home. He and his friend Louie were living in a training lot for about eight weeks, essentially on their own and trying to survive in a tough situation, until things took a tragic turn. During their time in the VIA lot, Jetson’s friend Louie was sadly hit by a car, and another dog from their group went missing around the same time. Cold, scared, and desperate for help, Jetson and Louie were eventually rescued thanks to an experience trapper who brought them to our safety. Jetson is a shy but a sweet boy who desperately wants to be loved, though he needs time and patience to warm up. He does well with other dogs and will let you pick him up and hold him, but he’s still learning to trust. Jetson’s ideal home is one where someone understands the importance of giving him space to adjust at his own pace. He’s a gentle boy who just needs the right person to help him come out of his shell.
