Story
Doug is a four-year-old male Silky Terrier/Shih Tzu mix. He currently weighs 26.5 pounds but is working hard to lose a couple of pounds. Doug was relinquished to us by his family that loves him very much but could no longer keep him. He is a handsome boy with excellent house manners and a very loving disposition. He is both crate & house trained. He gets along well with people of all ages, other dogs and although he has not been around cats much, he has shown no aggression towards cats in his little exposure to them. Doug is a very sweet boy that loves to have his belly rubbed. He is a delightful little guy that is looking for his forever family. If you are looking for a handsome, well behaved little boy and you love to give belly rubs, Doug just might be the perfect dog for you!

These pups are in Wichita, Kansas too!

Story
Lily, one of our senior dogs that we have saved from our local shelter due to the overcrowding situation. As you can tell from her photos, she was matted to the skin with urine, feces, small twigs, and a very yellowed dead dewclaw. After working on her for over three hours, we knew she needed professional help and Lori at Cut-N-Strut came to our rescue again! The result is a hairless dog, but Lily was so happy and relieved to be able to move without pain. Initially, we thought she might be pregnant, but it was a massive case of tapeworms. Those were taken care of in the first few days of her care. She does have a medium level heart murmur (which is not uncommon for older little breeds), an umbilical hernia, not sure if spayed (signs of a nursing mother), several growths, in need of a long overdue dental cleaning and bad ear infections. She has started on her heart medication, which she will take for the rest of her life, and the meds to clear up her ear infections. She is scheduled for her surgery soon and may have to have a second one, depending on how she reacts to the anesthesia.it is amazing that such a neglected animal still has so much trust and love! Lily is crate trained, goes to the door when she needs to potty, walks well on a leash and loves car rides! She does well with other dogs her size, but unsure of big dogs and cats. She loves to roam and explore the yard, so would like a fenced in area; but she does potty on a leash, so apartments would work also. Due to her age and calmness, she will be placed in a quiet home where she can receive the love and care that she deserves in her twilight years. If you have a soft spot in your heart for an older dog, visit with Lily. You will fall in love just as we have!

Story
We adopted Doug 3 years ago from a family which had 2 other dogs. One of their dogs was an older chihuahua who could not get along with Doug. We had another dog a few years ago which was a shih tzu who we named Doug. He passed 3 years before we met Doug and he resembled him and had the same temperament so we adopted him from the family that had him. When we learned that Doug was up for adoption, we went to Hutchinson to meet him and his owners and we brought him back with us. I am 77 years old and I fell and broke my vertebrae earlier this year and have not fully recovered yet. My wife is 75 and she is in physical decline too. We plan to move into a care facility soon and the center doesn't accept pets. Doug is very protective of my wife and could benefit from someone with the time to train and help him.
