Story
This handsome Silky Terrier/Shih Tzu mix boy is called Sandman.   He looks like a Yorkie on steroids and at 27 pounds and 2 years of age, he is a dog that knows that he wants in life.  He came in to a Tennessee shelter very matted and dirty.  It kind of matched his mood and temperament at the time.  He was on the angry side for a  few days and just wanted to keep his distance.  Being groomed helped that attitude big time and he soon started to relax after his neuter was done.  He is not a dog that you would take to the dog park and expect to have the time of his life.  He is a loner and a dog that is content to just be with his person.  He has some quirks like most small dogs do and he is learning how to navigate the housebreaking rules and time frame and he is pretty good about hitting the pee pads.  He is learning how to walk on the leash and how to accept a kind heart and hand that is offered to him by foster mom Ada.  He is fully grown and should not be any larger or more weight put on his little body.  He will need grooming every 3 months and over time he will be happy to allow all sorts of body handling and touches.  Right now it is a slow hand that needs to groom him.  He is kind of scared of it. We have had this boy only 1 week and are exploring and getting to know him each and every day.  He is now wagging his tail when foster mom, Ada, comes home and that is BIG PROGRESS.    We think he should be the only dog in the home for best lifestyle results and he could probably live with a cat or two as well.  Mature children who as on the calmer side would be fine for him.  We want to treat Sandman as an “old soul” type of persona and not expect him to change what he prefers in the way of calmness to fit  into a house that is a bustling mecca for children just being children.  He will snuggle and love you and will blossom under the watchful and loving eye of a new person.   He would be perfect for empty nesters, a single woman who wants an handsome boy to ADORE her for many many years to come.  He is not a barker from what we see and he has great potential to be your emotional support in life.  If you are interested, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com     PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 14, 2024, 9:01 pm
