Story

Ava is an active and social dog that weighs about 43 lbs. She will be turning 2 years old this December. Ava is dog-friendly, intelligent, and is popular at the dog park and doggy daycare. Ava loves to play with every dog she meets. Therefore, she would do best in a home with another young dog to play with daily. An active family who is home during the day would be great for her. She can get the zoomies if cooped up for long periods of time. She loves pools, lakes, beaches, and hikes; she’d be a great dog for a family that likes to spend time outdoors. She also loves to play tug-of-war (she’ll probably win!) and fetch. Ava is good with kids but because of her love of zoomies and her playful energy, we recommend kids 12 or older. Ava needs a yard that is fenced. She can jump a 4’ fence easily. The times she has gotten out she stays close by and hasn’t run away; she also has good recall. We haven’t tested her with an electric fence but because she’s so intelligent, we do think she’d learn to use one easily. She is housebroken and isn’t crated when left alone; she has free reign of the house and as long as there isn’t a plate of food left out for her to swipe, she’s fine. She doesn’t particularly like crates but has tolerated them in the past. She can sometimes be hesitant around new people at first, particularly adult men, but will warm up to them quickly. She will make a fun, and loving companion, especially if you are looking for an active, playful fun-loving dog! Story

Yogi, date of birth, 8-05-16, is a 75 lb. white and brown parti St. Poodle. His family lost their job and had to move and couldn't take Yogi with them. He lived with his human parents and another dog. Yogi may seem somewhat aloof when you first meet him, but after he gets to know and trust you, he becomes very loving. He is definitely an "alert" dog. If he sees someone outside he will run to the window barking, otherwise he is quiet. He is house and crate trained and once he knows where the door is to go outside to do his business he will come over to you and give you a paw and then walk to the door. Sometimes he just goes to the door. I let him out often and he always goes out, does his business and then comes to the door to come in. He prefers to be in the house more than outside. Most of the time he will lay beside whomever he picks as his person, but he loves everyone. He truly is a gentle giant. He didn't live with children, so I will not place him with children. He was around grandkids who visited. Yogi is looking for a retirement home, with a loving family, to live out the rest of his life. Maybe you are that family.
