A FUN & ACTIVE FRIEND FOR YOU: Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 21 lbs. & needs to lose a little weight Hello – I’m Howie! Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and – it was clear that I had not been well cared for in my previous life for quite a while, and as I was so matted, I needed to be completely shaved. Boy – do I feel better now! I was also fed too much and need to lose a bit of weight to be my best! I’ve started the doggie salt-free green bean diet to help with this. I am getting great care while I wait to meet my new family. Is that you? Come meet me soon and find out! I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I’m available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I want to be your only dog as I do not want to share my people with other dogs in my home, and I was not nice to a dog in a temp. home! I did meet and play with quite a few dogs in the prison/foster training program, so doggie daycare could be a good option for me to stay socialized. I just should not live with another dog. / Cats unknown but I don’t think so since I don’t want to share my people. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, however due to not wanting to share my person, teens 15+ who understand this about me would be the best fit for me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a very sweet guy with a friendly demeanor and am happy to see the nice volunteers and I look forward to being playful and active with you. I can be a bit of a tripping hazard, as I zigzag when I walk, so I should not be walked by someone with mobility issues. I really love my people and just want to be loved by them, too! I sometimes bark at a stranger, but this is easily corrected – so just ask about that. / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. / I’m currently learning my crate manners, as I still have accidents in my crate and I’m not a big fan of being in there. I’m doing my best to get the hang of things, but it’s a work in progress! / I don’t like to potty in front of people. While my past is a bit of a mystery, it appears that I was punished or treated harshly for having potty mistakes inside, which made me feel nervous about going potty where people can see me. My trainer understands my needs and is working with me on using a pee pad, so the head trainer will talk to you about this so I can be set up for success in my new home. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like my walks and regular walks will help me meet my weight loss goals, so ... lace up those sneakers and let’s GO! I ride well in the car, too, so let’s go explore some places together! Toys are pretty fun, but I especially love attention and being active with people. I look forward to being a great companion. / I’m not a big fan of strangers coming into my home, and sometimes I meet someone I’m just not too fond of. I can’t think of any other dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I just had a dental cleaning with 3 teeth pulled, so my mouth is fresh again! I am looking for a home where I will be a much-loved member of the family!
