Story
Hey there! I’m Waylon, a 1 and-a-half-year-old Akita Collie mix with a sharp mind, a big heart, and plenty of energy to spare! At 50 pounds, I’m the perfect size for an adventure buddy, whether that means going for a long walk, a run, or just playing outside. I love having space to stretch my legs and would thrive in a home where I can stay active. Some of my favorite things? Chasing a ball, tugging on a rope, and playing with a water hose—I just can’t resist! My journey hasn’t been the easiest, but it’s made me the strong and resilient pup I am today. As a puppy, I was brought into an animal vet hospital after being hit by a car and suffering a head injury. The amazing team there got me back on my feet and gave me a second chance at life. They then reached out to my current shelter, and as soon as they had space, HSO welcomed me in with open arms. Now, I’m ready to find my forever family!I get along great with other big dogs, but I’m not a fan of small dogs or cats, so I’d do best in a home without them. I’m highly observant and naturally protective of the people I love, making me an excellent guard dog. But don’t worry—I’m quiet most of the time and only speak up when I need to. I’m eager to please and a fast learner, especially with positive reinforcement. In fact, I’d be a great candidate for agility training—I love a challenge and would excel with the right guidance!I’m fully house trained, know how to use a doggie door, and already have a few commands under my belt, including “sit,” “no,” and, of course, my name! I also load up into a car easily and ride like a pro. If you’re looking for an intelligent, loyal, and active companion who will protect and love you unconditionally, I just might be your perfect match. Let’s go on an adventure together—I can’t wait to meet you!You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 for any other questions.****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
