Story
Mr. Fluffer needs a family!
Hey there! I’m Chuck, a lovable 7-year-old, 22-pound Bichon Frise with a big heart and an even bigger smile.
My journey started when I was found wandering around San Diego, dirty and matted. Thankfully, the kind folks at the San Diego Humane Society took me in, but I spent my days there feeling pretty shut down and alone. Then, TAP came in to save the day, and my life has been looking up ever since!
As for my health, I’m already neutered, but I do have some GI issues that need to be managed with a special diet. I’ll also need a dental cleaning sometime soon — but hey, who doesn’t need a little TLC now and then?
My foster parents say I’m the sweetest boy ever! I adore cuddles and just being close to my humans. Since I’m a bit of a seasoned pup, I enjoy bursts of playful energy but also know how to kick back and relax. While my humans are away at work, I’ll happily snooze the hours away. I’m super easygoing and keep my family smiling with my silly antics. Some of my favorite things include belly rubs, car rides, playing fetch, nice walks, and staying hydrated (I take my water bowl very seriously!)
I’m a bit of a protector and will bark at strangers when I'm outside or when guests come over. Sudden movements can make me jumpy, too, so I'm still working on feeling secure in those situations. I can be a little territorial at home, but with patience and introductions, I tend to warm up.
As far as my training goes, I’m fully potty-trained, but I can have an accident here and there if a full bowl of water is left within my reach. I’m not a fan of crates, but with a little encouragement, I’ll go right in and sleep inside one throughout the night. When left alone during the day, however, I’d prefer to skip the crate and nap on the couch instead. After all, I’m not the destructive type and do completely fine with full reign of the house without causing any trouble. I do have a bit of separation anxiety, though, but after barking for about 15 minutes when left behind, I tend to settle right in.
While I’m a dog-friendly kind of guy, I don’t need another pup in the home but wouldn’t mind a chill doggie sibling who likes doing their own thing. I’d be happiest in a mellow home with someone who’s around most of the time. But if you do need to leave for work, don’t worry — I manage just fine for 6-7 hours on my own.
If you’re looking for a sweet, funny, and loyal companion who’s ready to shower you with love, I just might be your perfect match. My adoption fee is $150 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/. You can also check me out on Instagram at @Fluffysfosterfriends.
