Story
Meet Lucia! Lucia is a 3 year old, 8 pound Miniature Poodle who loves to zoom, cuddle, and be close to her people.
Lucia la “Luchadora” (which translates to fighter in Spanish) was a puppy mill rescue and like her name says she is truly a little superhero. She was timid at first and scared of people but she quickly gained courage and learned to trust. Her superpowers include being a brave girl, walking through the city, loving all people everywhere, and getting along great with other dogs and cats. She is still unsure about how to play with dog toys but she loves to run around the house with her foster sister (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel). She is showing some signs of separation anxiety - if she doesn’t see her human nearby, she will bark to call you and greet you with wags and cuddles. When you leave her home alone, Lucia cries but eventually settles in. She’s the bravest girl!
In terms of house training, Lucia is a super smart girl and starting to learn to pee and poo outside and we are optimistic that with time and patience, she will figure it out! Some of her favorite things are freeze dried liver treats, snuggling on the couch, walks on a leash, and adventures in her dog bag.
If you're looking for the biggest lover in the smallest package who will stick by your side when you’re watching TV, working from home, or running errands, Lucia might be your perfect match!
Lucia is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area, and her adoption fee is $450.
Lucia is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
