Story
Meet Buddy! Age: approx 7 years old. Breed: toy poodle, unknown if mixed. Size: est 9-10lbs. Training: crate trained, working on leash house training and doing well. He is still figuring out steps. Good with dogs/cats? Yes to both. Good with men/women/kids? Yes. Personality: shy/timid at first, but wants to be affectionate. These sweet babies had a horrible life before their rescue. Buddy's shelter notes said he was Grey, but once all the matted hair came off, he was obviously white. Buddy would do best with another dog that is confident and can show him the ropes! Reason for rescue: seized by animal control, hoarding case. Buddy is neutered, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. He is scheduled for a dental on 8/29, however we are accepting applications for his adoption. If you are interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application. Adoption fee: $125.August 12, 2024, 6:12 pm

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   NOT IN VPDate into Rescue: 4/19/2024 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release Foster location: Nancy in Raleigh NC Special Needs? Wilson is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm-negative. Wilson is part of a group of dogs that are currently recovering from extremely poor living conditions. The conditions that we are clearing include sarcoptic mange, skin infections from dirty conditions and lack of grooming, intestinal parasites, and respiratory infections. Every dog has at least one of these conditions; some have multiple. Full records will go with every dog. Wilson will not be medically ready for a forever home until mid-June. We are accepting applications to adopt now. Weight: 11 lbs Height: 8 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, though he would love one What kind of home would be best for me? Wilson is looking for a calm patient home. He needs an experienced owner who has what it takes to spend one on one time with a shyer dog. Wilson would not be suited for young children under 8 as he is shy and uncomfortable with fast movements. Wilson needs another dog around his age who is confident, Wilson is most social when around other dogs. Wilson is looking for a home to teach him how to be a pet. Wilson is a smart boy and we expect him to come out of his shell rather fast, he is curious. He very much wants to be a people dog, he just needs a gentle household to teach him. What is my personality like? Wilson is more shy than most of this group but with just a few minutes of a gentle voice coxing him, and then he is happy to participate in human activities! Just give him time and patience and he will begin to show a puppy side to him! Wilson currently is quite and reserved. Expect him to quietly sit by when you meet him, he is just taking in all the very new things. Wilson needs to be taught all the basic skills, leash walking, tricks, and house training. Wilson is just a little man waiting for the right adopter to come steal his heart and love him for life! How do I act when I first meet new people? Wilson will need time when meeting new people. He is cautious.  Other tips and tidbits: Based on his overall health and condition, Wilson has been estimated at 1 year old by our veterinary partner. We celebrate his birthday 4/19/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. August 20, 2024, 7:27 am

Dennis is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Dennis was born with bad knees and legs. It was identified during his final puppy exam before purchase, and the reason he was surrendered to rescue. In April 2024, Dennis had MPL surgery on his rear leg to provide corrective support as he grows. In June 2024, Dennis had PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy to help with his leg. Our veterinarians have noted that Dennis already has some arthritis in the rear leg. Dennis's future medical needs are unknown. He uses his rear leg 75% of the time; the other 25% he holds it up. It does not slow him down. Additional surgery may be required in the future. Dennis's adopter must undertand and be committed to this. Weight: 8.5 lbs and growing - we expect Dennis will be between 10-12 lbs when full grown Height: 9 in - we expect Dennis will be 12 in when full grown Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 Fence needed? No, but he would love one What kind of home would be best for me? Dennis is a young, happy, active puppy looking for a young, active home with another young, active dog. He has two speeds - full speed awake and playing, and asleep snuggled up on you. Dennis is not suited to apartment or townhome life that involves shared walls. He has a voice and is not afraid to use it. Dennis has a strong preference for someone home during the day. He wants to be where you are and with you as much as possible. He'd be a great pal to run errands with. Dennis loves people and other dogs. He has lived in foster with small and large dogs. He has also lived with cats. They are not his favorite, but he could live with cats that are good with small dogs. Dennis has lived with children over 7 and loves them. Our ideal home for Dennis is with a family that has children and another young, active dog. He will not be adopted to a home where he is the only dog. Puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! Dennis has lived in foster with large and small dogs, cats and children over 7. What is my personality like? Dennis is happy, happy, happy! He absolutely loves to play and loves all things that are toys (or could be used as toys). He also loves sticks, leaves, doggy beds, rugs, real dog toys, squeaky toys and chew bones. Dennis is a bundle of poodle puppy joy! He wakes up happy and plays most of the day.  He's good at entertaining himself. To meet Dennis is to fall in love with him! PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly - Dennis loves everyone and thinks everyone is his new best friend Other tips and tidbits: Dennis's birthday is 10/29/2023 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Tina is a senior dog. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Tina arrived in rescue with heartworms; these have been treated and she is now testing negative. Regular monthly preventative is non-negotiable. Tina has mature cataracts in both eyes. Given her age we have elected not to attempt corrective vision storage. Tina has severe allergies. She takes a cytopoint injection every 2 months. Her owner will need to continue this. She is also a candidate for apoquel; this will be up to her new owner's discretion. Tina requires medicated chlorex baths every week. She MUST have these without exception. Finally, Tina has food allergies and needs a restricted diet. She LOVES food. Weight: 9 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $99 Fence needed? No, but a fence is a great safety feature for any dog. What kind of home would be best for me? Come meet Tina, a bundle of lovable energy wrapped in a sassy, 13-year-old package! Because Tin is so enamored with people she will need her adopter to be home more than they are away. This little girl will blend seamlessly into your life whether you are single, a couple, or a family. She would be the perfect companion for a retiree seeking a lively friend. Tina will do well in either an apartment or house. You can teach an old dog new tricks and Tina will need to be taught basic commands like come, down, sit, and stay as well as how to walk on a leash. While she doesn't require another dog, she wouldn't mind an older canine buddy. A fenced in yard isn't necessary, but since Tina loves to explore she'll need supervision outdoors.  What is my personality like? Found as a stray, Tina arrived in rescue a hot mess. If you're wondering why such a cute, wonderful girl has been in rescue for a year without a forever home, it's because she's been getting medically ready. First up was heartworm treatment. That was a success. Then there were severe allergies. We have those under control as described in her special needs section above. Now, it's time for a forever home. From the first moment we met Tina, she charmed us with her happy smile, silly antics and ability to love through the toughest of days. Despite her age, Tina is spry and full of life, always eager to run up to you for affection. Tina may be the sassiest senior you've ever met! She has no qualms about doing a happy dance around you and jumping on your leg to let you know she needs your attention. She's known for her unique walk, where she seems to prance on just two paws, and when she's really happy, she'll zoom around in joyful circles.  Tina is good with other dogs, and you can sometimes catch her sparking up play with them. She will be good with your cat if your cat it good with her in your home. She's a great travel companion too, enjoying car rides and accompanying you on errands. Tina doesn't need a ton of exercise, a casual walk or two or time in the backyard will do. She's a good eater and takes treats gently. Tiny Tina is quite the character with a huge personality. If you're looking for an energetic, affectionate companion with a big personality, Tina is the girl for you. Come meet her and experience her irresistible charm today. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. Tina has never met a stranger and loves meeting new people. On your first meeting there's a good chance this sweet girl will be in your lap before you know it. Other tips and tidbits: Tina was found as a stray, so we have no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at or around 13 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 12/15/2010. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
