Story
Meet Statler!
This little guy may be just 11 pounds, but his heart is huge. Statler is the definition of a sweetheart—he loves to cuddle, adores attention, and is always happy to be by your side. At approximately 1.5 years old, Statler is a happy, curious, and affectionate pup who brings big love in a small package.
Statler is great with other dogs—he lived with dogs of all sizes in his Texas foster home and currently shares his space with a large lab mix. He’s playful yet respectful and gets along well with dog-savvy cats too. Submissive by nature, Statler hasn’t shown any signs of aggression and rarely barks. While a little nervous at first, especially in new situations, he warms up quickly and just wants to be part of the family.
As a former shelter stray, he’ll need a little time to settle into a new routine, but once he does, he’ll be your most loyal companion. Statler is almost fully potty trained (no accidents yet!) and does well crated—he sleeps in his crate overnight and eats his meals there too. He may benefit from being crated when left alone until he matures a bit more.
Statler has a soft, fluffy coat that will require regular grooming, including haircuts every 6–8 weeks, to keep him looking and feeling his best. He enjoys daily runs in a fenced yard and would thrive in an active home with adults or older kids, especially as he’s still in the puppy nipping phase. Leash walking is a work in progress—he tends to pull and choke himself—so continued training will be helpful.
If you’re looking for a loving, affectionate pup who’s ready to be your new best friend, apply to adopt Statler today!

PLEASE READ:
• If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.
• All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.
• Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.
Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.
Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.
