Elmer is a rescue hound mix. I got doggy DNA on him I can share. He should be about 9 years old. He is a total couch potato and snuggle bug. He LOVES kids and women, but can be scared of some men. He is definitely scared of the dark and loud noises. I think he was abused in the past. He is very easy going and easy to take care of, but I travel too much for work to give him the schedule he needs. He is a typical stubborn hound dog with hound personality. Definitely critter fixated if he is running loose. Either a leash or a fenced yard is needed. He’s fine in a townhome or condo with 3-4 daily walks. Loves car rides. He will come with food, treats, toys, and flea meds, and harness/leash and some other doggy essentials. Not due for shots again until September. No health issues.

DeWalt is a 2 year old coonhound who would love a job! He would love to work and run around in his new home. He is a smart, young guy who we think would respond well to training. He is also very food motivated, making training with him a breeze! DeWalt is ready to be given a task and work for the rest of his life! He has developed a bit of anxiety after not having a job to do, but he has a bay that says he is ready to work! His lovely singing voice has caused some neighborly tension in the past, so we are looking for a forever home where neighbors won’t be disturbed by his bay. After DeWalt goes on a run, he’s ready to curl up in his bed and cuddle. He loves his floppy hound ears scratched and will quickly fall asleep in your lap if you let him.We are looking for a home for DeWalt where he has lots of room to run around and that is outside of city limits. We are looking to place him in a home that is familiar with working breeds and is serious about giving him a job. While he is a very sweet dog, we think he would do best in a home without small children as he is a very large, energetic guy!DeWalt’s adoption fee is $175. Meet Lolita! Lolita was rescued from the streets of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico when she was just a young puppy. With great foster care, she has grown into a healthy, sweet and very friendly girl. Lolita knows how to walk on leash, and is fully vaccinated and sterilized. At 8 months old, she is ready to find her forever family

Welcome Reba to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 1-year-old Shepherd/Greyhound mix dog. She weighs about 65 pounds and is long and leggy. She is a great dog and would make a good running, jogging or walking companion. She has long legs so she could keep stride. She has tons of energy so she would be best with an athletic and active family. She could go with children. She is active so 8 or up would be best. Her best home would be with a fenced yard and time to finish off her training. She was probably gotten as a puppy and put in the backyard. She now is dog sized but has puppy skills. She is a wonderful dog and with some training will make a wonderful family pet. She was rescued from one of the local high kill shelters that are over flowing and asking for help. CCPAL stepped up for her. She is healthy, vaccinated and will be spayed before she leaves the Rescue. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 250 and transport is 180. Meet Milo. The man that knows exactly what he wants. And what does he want you might ask? He wants nothing but the longest game of fetch! Milo has a slight obsession with the game fetch and he takes his love for the game very seriously. After every session, he takes the game ball back to his room to reminisce on what a wonderful time he had. Once he has cleared the play yard of tennis balls, Milo will find the next best thing to fetch and he does a great job bringing it and setting it into your hands. He loves to run and fling himself through the air. He can twist and jump like no one's business! But fetch is not his only skill. Milo is also comedian in his spare time. He loves to make everyone laugh with his silly, goofy faces. He loves to leave nose prints by pressing his face up against any glass surface. Milo makes the staff here at PAWS GH laugh at least five times a day. If you need some laughter in your life, Milo is the man for you! He's a little hesitant with new people but one toss of a tennis ball and you're in! He will make friends with anyone willing to support his obsession.Milo will be entering the Freedom Tails training program! He will be learning new skills and some basic manners starting December 5th and graduating at the end of February. A completed and approved application is needed to schedule a meet and greet. Stay tuned, more info coming soon!!12/12/24 Milo is the new dog I have the pleasure of training. He’s 3-4 yrs although he still acts like a puppy, full of energy and always wanting to play! He’s a medium sized dog with long legs and a skinny build weighing in at 55lbs. Milo is a hound, I think. People say they see Dalmatian, Greyhound, Springer Spaniel, Tree Walker… the list goes on. At the end of the day, he is beautiful and looks like a cross between them all. Milo is nervous with new people and places. He takes a little while to warm up but once he does warm up, he is the most affectionate! He loves to snuggle and receive belly rubs. He’s also a glutton for treats. Milo loves to play fetch, endlessly! He loves tug and his favorite ball as of late is a simple tennis ball. Milo is a wonderful friend and is a pleasure to train. He is smart and loves to work! 12/19/24Milo has learned all of his cues already! He is so smart! He is doing very well and is a true rockstar!Milo is already potty trained and will even go to the door and wait as a signal that he’s got to go. Milo is very calm, cool and collected. He loves attention and treats. He’s such a rewarding friend to have and makes my day, everyday. 12/26/24Milo here - Man, what a journey this has been! I had a family once. I miss them but they had to move on and gave me to the nice people at PAWS. What a great group of people. They look really great care of me and kept me safe. They really liked playing fetch and especially loved it when I made funny faces so I did my best to keep them entertained. It was a blast! They brought me here to the SCCC Freedom Tails program to help these convicts out. The nig house, well what can I say? Three cats and a hat (prison lingo I’ve picked up while being here!) These guys think they’re the ones training me but they give me pets and belly rubs just for being myself, doing cues and being a good boy. So really, who is training who? My trainer is pretty cool, he takes really good care of me. I had some impulse control issues when I first got here. I was a little anxious but he’s really helped me with that! He’s so patient and kind. I now walk nicely on a leash and am much calmer when meeting new people. The world is a scary place but he has shown me that most people are kind and gentle. He makes me feel safe. Leaving him will be hard but we are all seeking parole, even him, and I’m looking for something a little more permanent if you know what I mean. What do you say? He tilts his head from side to side and if you're lucky, he'll give you an Elvis lip curl that will slay you! Milo loves to lay his hand on your chest and push his nose into your chin. Too close isn't close enough for him. Milo likes to hold hands. He will come up and put his paw in your hand, sitting there looking into your eyes. Milo knows all of his cues! When he wants a treat or dinner he will start running through all of them in an animated fashion to get what he wants. In the mornings Milo will come out of his crate and climb into my bed. He lays across my chest not wanting to get up thus making the start to my day a little later than normal. MILO LOVES LOVE. Milo likes to go for walks! He knows where to find his other friends here at SCCC and loves going out to look for them. Here are some other things you might like to know - Milo will play fetch or tug of war if you let him. His favorite toy is a tennis ball. Milo Loves to work for his food and jerky is his favorite treat ever. On a scale of 1-10 Milo’s energy in the house is a 2 or below. At the park? Solid 10 most of the time. Milo loves to please, he will do almost anything for a treat or morsel of food.
