Story
My name is Cookie. I am a 3 year old, 60 pound pointer/ American bulldog mix. I was surrendered by my previous owner to our local animal shelter in May 2023. My foster mom pulled me from the shelter on March 9, 2024. So, I was in the shelter 283 days. I know how to sit and learned how to use the doggie door within hours of being in my new foster home. I know how to wait patiently for my food. Mom doesn’t like me to eat until she says it’s okay. Mom taught me how to shake, if you offer your hand. I can easily learn commands if motivated with tasty treats. I don’t mind other dogs playing with my toys. I am housebroken and will need a fenced yard or an e-fence to stay safe. I am good on a leash, but I can become a little too interested in other dogs. I can be selective with my dog friends, but I like the two at my foster home. I have visited other dogs and we go on walks together. Proper introductions are very important for me to feel safe. Mom doesn’t let me around cats, as I love to chase them. I love toys. I love to chew. I love to play and my mom says my play bow is precious. My favorite game is tug. I can be left in my kennel all day, but when Mom gets home I have a ton of energy. She takes me on a 30-45 minute walk and I feel better. If I don’t get a walk after being in my kennel all day, sometimes I find stuff to chew on. I like kids, but I may be a little too rambunctious and play too hard for tiny toddlers. I love big fluffy beds and don’t mind cuddling on it with my foster sister. I take lots of naps between playtimes. I rarely bark and am typically a quiet girl.

Story
Millie was picked up as a stray and had been at a local overcrowded shelter for three months. She is a 55 pound German shorthaired pointer mix which makes her have a unique appearance and lively personality. Millie is a larger dog with a sleek, muscular build typical of Pointers. She has a short, shiny coat that is mostly white with black patches. Her expressive brown eyes and floppy ears give her an endearing and approachable look. Millie is known for her playful and energetic nature. She loves to run and play. One of Millie’s most notable traits is her impressive fence-climbing ability. This talent first became apparent when she came to her foster home. Curious about the world beyond her yard, Millie will climb over the fence to explore the neighborhood. Her escapades led to many amusing incidents, such as surprising the neighbors by appearing in their yards. Millie will require a 6 foot fence to manage her adventurous spirit. Millie's daily routine includes morning runs, playtime at the dog park, and engaging activities like puzzle toys and obedience training. Despite her adventurous nature, Millie is well-behaved at home. She enjoys lounging in her favorite spot by the window, watching the world go by, and greeting visitors with enthusiastic tail wags. Millie is low heartworm positive and is on slow kill monthly prevention. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats.
