Story
Say Howdy to Daryl and Jessie! Their owner had to surrender them after an unexpected medical condition left him unable to care for them.  This bonded pair are only a year apart, and have been raised together since puppyhood so we really want to keep them together! He’s a little bit country and she’s a little bit rock-n-roll, but they go together like peas and carrots!  Daryl is a laid-back, handsome brindle with a sweet, calm demeanor, and gives the best dog hugs ever! The true hound that he is, he loves long walks with his nose to the ground or in the air to make sure those pesky squirrels stay up in the trees.  But don’t let him fool you, he has a funny, mischievous side as well.  If his nose can reach it, his mouth can eat it, but only when you’re not looking.   While Daryl is happy moseying along, Jessie’s ready to put the pedal to the metal.   She puts the “sass” in sassafras!   When this girl gets excited, clear the floor, ‘cause she likes to dance like no one’s watching!  This little fashionista somehow matched her eyes to her coat, she’s a real beauty!  But there’s nothing she loves more than snuggling up with you on the couch.  That is, once you move her over an inch and squeeze in beside her.  She’s not giving up her spot easily! They may be polar opposites, but they agree that they are looking for somebody with a lot of love to give…and treats(bones)…and cuddles…and belly/butt rubs and, oh yeah, a big yard would be great because, well, they’re not the best on leash, but they’re getting better!   August 19, 2024, 3:58 pm

Story
Meet Duke! He had a rough start to life and ended up at a kill shelter with hours before being put down because of his medical needs. We stepped up and brought him in. He was 45 pounds at the shelter and is now at 70 but still gaining some weight. What we know and love about Duke: **He is very friendly and loves everyone he meets. He is a typical Velcro Weimaraner- wants to be with you everywhere and is very focused on his people and listening to what they say. **Already knows basic commands (assume he was someone pet and got lost) "sit" "shake" "stay" "come" "down” **He is house trained, crate trained and walks well on leash (does have prey drive he is a hunting dog after all) **Dog friendly and living with two other Weimaraners **Loves water! **He is up to date on shots, was neutered 7/17 and blood work drawn and cleared. He does have an old broken toe, we took x rays and nothing to do about it and doesnt bother him at all and one ear that has some damage from the ear infections he has had but he is a healthy boy and those are things that just make him special. Please note Duke has been diagnosed with heartworm, a condition caused by parasitic worms living in the heart and lungs. However, it's important to note that heartworm is not contagious, meaning it cannot be transmitted directly from one animal to another. The disease spreads through the bite of an infected mosquito, not through direct contact. Fortunately, his treatment will be paid for by POSO and he has already started the pill treatment and will begin his shot treatment 8/31 with treatment being completed 10/31 All POSO Dogs come with 2 free dog training sessions
