Story
Meet Sol! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 4 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Sol and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app February 24, 2025, 5:40 pm

Story
This lovely gal was rescued from a super high kill shelter in Kern County. She was completely freaked out in the shelter and shut down. Because of her wonderful foster, Harriet is completely flourishing. She would do best in a quieter home. Harriet walks great on a leash now and is enjoying her walks. Harriet would be a great dog for someone who works from home, or wants an easier going pup. She is living in an apartment and doing well. So she could acclimate anywhere. She is so young. Under 2 years and a perfect 43 pounds. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@barknbitches.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.

Story
Meet Theodore, a sweet 4-year-old Wheaten Terrier mix with a heart full of love once he’s had a chance to warm up! Theodore is a charming boy who can be a bit nippy if his personal space is invaded, so he prefers to approach you on his own terms. While he may initially be defensive if approached too quickly, Theodore is a cuddly companion at heart. Once he feels comfortable and secure, he will eagerly seek out snuggles and affection. He’s good with other dogs and loves to play, though he isn’t fond of cats. Theodore is looking for a patient and understanding home where he can feel safe and cherished. If you’re willing to give him the time he needs to build trust, he’ll reward you with endless love and playful companionship.

Story
Meet Noah – A Sweetheart in Search of His Forever Home! Located in Los Angeles, CA Noah is a lovable 1-2-year-old boy who was rescued from a local shelter in LA, where he was on the euthanasia list. He was likely hit by a car before his rescue, which left him with injuries to his back legs. Vets have determined that nothing can be done to fix his legs, but that doesn’t stop Noah from living a happy and fulfilling life! He gets around just fine on his own, and while he has a wheelchair to help when needed, he does great without it too. Noah does have some incontinence, but with the right care, he’s perfectly happy and comfortable. He does best with minimal stairs, a fenced yard, and a home with no carpet to make it easier for him to move around. He’s a gentle, affectionate dog who gets along great with both dogs and cats. While he hasn’t been around kids yet, his loving nature suggests he could thrive in a home with children. Noah is eagerly waiting to find his forever family here in Los Angeles. Could that be you? If you’re ready to give this sweet boy the home he deserves, please reach out today!
