Luck is in the air this March! Our pets are hoping to be lucky in love with a new best friend by the end of the month. We are having a "Lucky in Love" special and have reduced the fee on quite a few of our available pets. Any pets marked with the "Lucky in Love" sticker, have had their adoption fee reduced in hopes to meet their match this month! Adult dogs a part of this adoption special have had their adoption fee reduced to $99.00. Adult cats that qualify for this special have been reduced to $25.00. Some have even had their adoption fee sponsored. Apply now! All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile. After we review your completed survey we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. We're primarily a volunteer organization, so we appreciate your patience. (below) The PCH adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and leash to pick up. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart: Park in the PetSmart Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. PCH supports a 21-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we are not able to provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in DECATUR, IL Requirements: Secure physical fenced yard Canine Companion or mill dog experience PRADA is a former puppy mill dog. She is insecure and takes daily anxiety meds. She may be able to be weened off them once she settles in a new home. It is pretty apparent to us that Prada didn't have the best life prior to coming to us. She was not loved on and socialized. As a result she is fearful of people and new things. We have not really seen her personality yet, except when she is outside. She loves to play outside and run freely around the yard. She is even playful outside but inside she mostly seeks out quiet places and doesn't interact with anyone in the household. We made the decision to start her on anxiety meds on March 6 to help her with her anxiety. It will take 6-8 weeks to fully take effect. Since we do not know much about Prada, we will describe a typical Wheaton. Wheaton's are a playful and joyful dog. They are affectionate and devoted. They are a working class dog and are considered active. Their coats are low shedding. We are seeking a family for Prada that has mill dog experience or a confident canine companion she can learn from. She is considered a flight risk and a secure physical fenced yard is required. Prada's adoption is $400. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
