Story
Meet a true Princess—elegant Dana! She’s an 18-month-old, 35-lb bundle of love that you just want to hug! Her sweet, gentle, and graceful nature is hard to resist. She is great with children, naturally kind and sweet with them. She also gets along with other dogs and cats as well. She is a super playful little girl who loves to roll over for belly rubs!! Dana is in rescue because, sadly, she was abandoned by her owners, who moved and left her behind. Fortunately, our rescue was able to take her in and assure her that she will never be abandoned again! She is being fostered with two pups and a cat in Manhattan. She’s adapted to the city very quickly, and comes daily to her foster mom’s office where she greats everybody with a wagging tail. She loves going for walks and play in a doggy run in Madison Sq Park. Dana is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, 4dx tested: negative for heart worm, currently on flea/tick/heart worm prevention, and dewormed. If you feel you would be the right fit for Dana, please fill out an adoption application at www.sosanimalwelfare.org, or email us for more info: sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com We will happily get back to you!

Story
Dolly is looking for a forever home where she will be loved and cherished for the rest of her life. She is a sweet, playful, and very curious girl. Dolly loves attention, playing with other dogs, and going for walks. Her walking-on-a-leash skills improve daily as she is a fast learner. She loves to go out for walks with her foster mom and play in the backyard with her foster siblings. Along with her 6 siblings, Dolly was abandoned in a paper box in front of the shelter, left there overnight. Luckily, the shelter staff noticed the box early the next morning and took all the puppies in. Dolly and her siblings grew up at SOS el Arca Animal Rescue’s shelter, where they’ve grown into beautiful pups. Dolly is being fostered in Danbury, CT. She is housebroken and crate-trained, although she prefers a comfy bed. She is good with cats and good with children who are calm and gentle with her. Her ideal home would be one with a fenced-in backyard and another dog who would help her gain confidence as she is shy girl. Adopters who would love a dog to go on adventures with and are willing to make sure this girl gets the training she needs would be perfect for her. She is food-motivated, clever, and loving. She is 14 months old, up to date on all her vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped, 4dx tested: negative for heart worm. She is currently on flea/tick/heart worm prevention and dewormed. Dolly has stunning good looks with a gentle and sweet nature, and she learns quickly with a kind word and some treats. She is ready to be your best friend! Interested in this sweet, loving girl? Please complete the adoption application at www.sosanimalwelfare.org, and we will happily get back to you. Dolly is ready to meet you!

Story
SPEEDWAGON - 1 year, 30lbs, Whippet/Terrier Mix, Neutered  This dog is available for foster to adopt. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: "Speedwagon needs a home in a calm part of the city - BK, Queens, etc. He would thrive in the burbs. He's not meant to be a city boy."  His Foster Parent Says: "Speedwagon( aka Speedy) Is a wonderful dog. He is full of life and energy. He is playful, sweet, loves his pets and cuddles. He is still a younger dog, so some training is still needed. He does know basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. He is friendly with our resident dog and would most likely do great with another dog." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level High — Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time  Potty TrainedYes — Few or no accidents  Comfy with strangers? Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Comfortable with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision) - n/a or unsure Social with Other Dogs? Mostly — Generally good with other dogs but may be picky - he displays friendly and playful behavior with our resident dog. Unsure about other dogs though! Mouthy Behavior? Higher  – We don't believe he was ever trained to not be mouthy. Wants to put everything in their mouth. Tries to chew on your hands when playing or needs attention, grabs the leash with its mouth, loves to gnaw on your personal belongings. We are working on training that out of him. Saying no, no biting or ow. Replacement toys. He is fast to stop or let go.  Leash Manners? Getting the Hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in its life but he/she is figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction.  Okay in the city? Needs to live in a calm area - NOT a city boy — Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction and further training.  Separation Anxiety? Low – Completely fine being left home alone. Usually found on the couch. Just have to make sure the house is safe as he is still mouthy Crate training? Not at all – We are working on getting one, just so he begins to have an option. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. LULA was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption, before sending him with other saved dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue where they are settling in. LULA was cleared by the US canine center for diseases upon entry into the US. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 36 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 13 July 2022. Lula was picked up on 15th March by a former GaDaH adopter and approved foster to give her some time out of the kennels and she spent a week enjoying and adapting learning how to live in a home environment. She adapted well and although was skittish, which is to be expected after all she had been through, she was gaining confidence on walks. She loved sleeping on the couch and was eating, drinking and going to the door when she wanted to go outside. Unfortunately after a few days she was getting a bit growly with the families small terrier, which was most likely as she didn't want to share all this new love and attention. Lula came back to the rescue on 22nd March after a weeks' break from the kennels and we feel that although she gets on with other dogs and loves to play with them, she would probably be best in home on her own so she can enjoy and take in all the love and attention she has not had and so desperately wants and deserves. LULA's story is that she was living as a young pup (around 3 months) in an area with her beautiful mum and siblings. The police, as they do to stray dogs in Oman, shot her mum and siblings. Lula and one of her brothers miraculously survived, however, her brother had a badly broken jaw from being shot and ended up being put to sleep.  LULA had severe wounds to both her hind legs and front paw of which the veterinarian believes were done by a human to torture her. Thankfully with medical care and treatment she healed well and was able to go to the Muscat Dog Adoption Rescue where she stayed until she was lucky to be chosen to come to the US.   Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix of the popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames. If not saved these dogs are often shot or brutally ran over and left for dead. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. LULA is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $150, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this precious girl home. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received.
