Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Caramela! It means Caramel in Spanish because my mom is a xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless Dog!) and my foster mom has taught me Spanish, so I'm already bilingual! I'm small but mighty (I'll probably grow up to be around 50 pounds, can you believe that?!) and I love playing with my siblings, but I’m happiest when I’m curled up in a human’s arms. I tend to follow my pack rather than lead, and I’m learning the ropes of potty training super quickly. I'm only 2 months old so I’ll happily zoom around the yard, but when I get tired, I just plop down wherever I am and watch the world go by. I've mastered sitting and it's my favorite thing to do! I sleep through the night and dream of finding my forever family who will love and spoil me like I deserve. Could that be you? Apply to meet me today!  https://rescuerovers.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4087Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 18, 2025, 4:04 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. They call me Bonus — the biggest and fluffiest of my siblings, and proud of it! My foster family gave me my name because I was the biggest pup, like a special bonus. I might look like a tiny lion cub, but I’m really a gentle giant who just wants to cuddle and snooze with my humans. Apart from being all around adorable, my floppy ears are not sure which direction to go when I run around, I get a lot of "aw"s for some reason, I'm just a floppy little guy, what can I say? I’m learning all about the world, like how to climb stairs, and potty training is coming along nicely. I also love my crate — it’s my cozy retreat. One day I’ll be around 60-80 pounds, but my heart is already full of love, and I’m ready to share it with my forever family. I'm super ready for my forever home, apply to meet me here!   https://rescuerovers.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4087Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 18, 2025, 5:10 pm

Story
Looking for a pint-sized bundle of joy to brighten your life? Meet Candy! Is your couch crying out for a little gargoyle to perch on? Do you dream of coming home to 20 pounds of spring-loaded happiness? How about a dog who can do an uncanny impression of Bob Ross cleaning his paintbrush? Candy’s got you covered.Candy is a 4-year-old chihuahua / basenji mix with a heart as sweet as her name. She’s incredibly smart and shows signs of prior training, but she’s looking for a patient and loving human to help her brush up on her manners and build her confidence. With consistent boundaries and guidance, she’ll truly shine.Currently, Candy lives in a foster home with two senior dogs and a cat. While she’s tolerant of her furry roommates, she’d thrive as the center of attention in a home where she doesn’t have to compete for love. That said, with thoughtful introductions and the right mix of personalities, she can adapt to a multi-pet household.Candy’s energy level is perfectly in tune with her people. Whether it’s a brisk power walk, a hiking adventure, or simply lounging on the couch, Candy is happiest when she’s near you. Be prepared for her excitement during transitions—like waking up or coming home—but once the initial zoomies are out, she’s ready to match your pace.Candy would do best in a home without small children and with someone who’s retired, works from home, or has a flexible schedule. She doesn’t enjoy being left alone for long stretches. If you’re ready to welcome a cinnamon-doughnut dog with a huge personality into your life, Candy is ready to meet you! Let’s make life sweeter together—reach out to meet Candy today!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Lacy is a 12-year 9.3 pound eloquent and majestic long leg beauty Chihuahua mix, all white with a little tan on her ears. Lacy came to be a CAWS dog after she was abandoned in a shelter, so sad at this time of her life but she is safe now for the rest of her days. These majestic long legs make her weeble and wobble a bit or better known as ataxic in the rear limbs (an awkward gait, uncoordinated walking pattern that is characterized by an irregular foot placement and a wide base, which may have a tendency to fall). But it is this walk that makes her unique and precious, it is more of a dainty and expressive pace. She also has some back pain, just a frail little old lady but such a magnificent little old gal, unique as can be. She is totally house and crate trained, if you don’t get her out she looks at you and gives a whine to let you know it is time to be let out. She gets along with all the other dogs in her foster home, male and female, big and small. She is a little on the slender side so we are trying to put a pound or two on her. Lacy had a dental with 18 teeth extracted. The anesthesia was really hard on our little lady but she put on her big girl panties and astoundingly pulled through this ordeal like an awesome trooper! She had a couple wart type things between her eyes removed while she was under too. She does a loud yelp when she needs your attention or to let you know she must get back in the house. For this loud yelp Lacy has to go to a house with a yard and 2-legged people who work from home or can take her to work with them or retired so she is not alone. She does okay in a crate but we do not want her to live in a crate now at this time of her life. She does like to cuddle on the couch and sleep with her 2-legged people, but she is okay with a bed on the floor too some of the time. She gives the softest, gentlest kisses, so dang sweet. Due to her age she should go to a family with no kids or older. If you can give this superb little lady a safe and secure home with unconditional love for the rest of whatever time she may have left, please fill out an application for a meet and greet. Lacy could most surely have many many years ahead of her, and we believe with all our heart she has a very precious long life ahead of her, she oozes pure sweetness and joy. Lacy should have never ended up in a shelter but she crossed our path and so now will find her furever lasting home that she is so deserving of. She takes your breath away.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Story
Meet Scoops LePue! Scoops LePue is a goofy, confident and fun-loving pup with a unique personality and a love for adventure! This 8 year old, easy-going chiweenie enjoys being around people and is always ready to show off his impressive repertoire of tricks, including 'sit', 'wait', 'lay down', 'spin', 'stick 'em up', and even 'bang'. He has great recall and absolutely loves going on hikes, making him a perfect companion for an active family.Scoops is friendly and playful, and he would thrive in a home where he can feel secure and comfortable. He gets along with dogs his size of all ages and temperaments, but has had some past reactivity with very dominant male dogs. Though he can be a bit excitable around other dogs at first, he loves to play and matches the energy of those around him. When it comes to cats, he’s unbothered and simply ignores them.At home, Scoops is crate trained, house trained, dog door trained, and enjoys finding the coziest spot to curl up for a snooze. He absolutely loves cuddles and belly scratches! He does well in an apartment setting as long as he gets his daily walks and exercise or a home with a yard to explore. He can be left alone for short periods without anxiety and rides fairly well in the car.Scoops would do best in a home with older and/or dog-savvy kiddos who understand appropriate interaction with a small dog. He would do well with a canine friend similar in size, but would also be happy as the center of attention. Scoops LaPue is sure to be a loyal, entertaining, and adventurous companion!Could Scoops be the perfect fit for your home?Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
