Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. PREGNANT NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 7/9/2024:   Mother Earth - female - approx 2 years old - 10.2 (pregnant) pounds - Yorkie/Chihuahua Reason for intake:  Mother Earth came to us from the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter.  She came in as a stray with a very round belly.  It's clear she's had multiple litters in her life.  This will be her last.  She's heading to our vet on Wednesday, July 10th, for a few things and for an x-ray to determine about how many pups she's expecting and an approx due date.  Stay tuned! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.416768288349589&type=3 OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings. Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. You Tube video link:  https://youtu.be/nCsH256CD4A   FOR ADOPTION!   Note:  Only those with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. (For more pics, visit nr2r.petfinder.com or www.RoadtoRescueLA.org)   INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE applying: DOG APPLICATION LINK:    http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application Tibbie (female) Intake date:   7/23/2024 Yorkie/Chihuahua 8 years old 4.8 pounds Adoption fee:  $325, which includes vetting, microchip Benefactor Dog:  When we have a popular dog, we dub them a “Benefactor Dog”.  A Benefactor Dog will have an above average adoption fee.  In other words, for OTHER dogs where the adoption fee is minimal or waived due to age, health or some other reason (although we’ve likely spent hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars) a Benefactor dog will help us somewhat make up the shortfall.  If this dog has an above-average adoption fee, she/he is a Benefactor Dog.   Good with other dogs:  yes Cats:  unknown – we do not have cats to be able to test Vetting and other:  altered (spayed/neutered), dental NOT done but 1 tooth was extracted while under, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, fecal negative, on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped Health issues:  none found. Temperament:  very sweet, submissive, shy Energy level:  low Groom needs:  medium;  she has a wiry medium length coat that just needs a bath and brush from time-to-time Biography:  Tibbie came to us with her daughter, Libbie, via a rescue friend.  We’re not sure what their story is but they are so precious!  Tibbie does find in a kennel if needed and walks ok on a leash.  She is a tiny toot.  She is very submissive but also social and friendly once she’s comfortable.  She does bark when people come into the rescue.  She would prefer a quiet and calm home.  If you’d like to bring this little sweetie into your heart and home, we welcome your application.   **IMPORTANT NOTES** *We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved.  We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule.   *Most of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever!  We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family!   We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing.  There is no exception to this rule!   *PREDATORS:    IF THIS DOG IS UNDER 10 POUNDS, the dog is to be monitored and protected when outside at all times!  PREDATOR-THREAT IS A REAL DANGER!  For example, a hawk tried to pick up a Chihuahua owned by a friend visiting Ninna’s house… RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE VISITOR.  Thankfully the visitor was watching the dog and the hawk was wrestled off of the Chihuahua but it did require an ER visit and she is was very lucky to survive.   TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!     *NO SMALL CHILDREN!!  As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended.   Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children.  KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL!  Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents.    *HOUSETRAINING:  We do NOT guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained.   While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night.  Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained, it doesn’t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home.  Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency.    *KENNELING:  We always recommend kenneling when you cannot supervise your dog.  This helps with housetraining and any destructive tendencies until you get to know your knew addition.   *We do not guarantee the age, health or temperament of any of the dogs we rehome.  Many of the dogs we take in come from animal control and rarely do we have histories and even when we do, many times the histories are inaccurate.   *Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply.   If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty.  That’s our guarantee.   Other notes:  This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La.  We are 501c3 non-profit organization.  Our mission is to rescue primarily small-breed dogs and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes.    DOG APPLICATION LINK:   http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal.  We do not reserve animals, unless and until we have approved your application, provided the animal is still available at the time we receive your application.  The first APPROVED application we receive will be considered.  We are NOT a first come, first serve rescue!! We adopt our rescues out to the RIGHT home, not just A home. Only responsible pet owners need apply. Applying to adopt does NOT commit you to the adoption NOR does it guarantee the adoption. Energy level:  low Groom needs:  medium-high;  he has a wiry coat -  from his intake picture:  https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=894041856101293&set=a.756771159828364  you will see that the hair around his face grows likely longer than the rest of his body so that will need to be maintained. Biography:  Gibbler came in with Dan Dan via a rescue friend.  We were told that the wife died and the husband told the other rescue that if they didn't take all the dogs, he was going to shoot them.  The rescue reached out to us to see if we could take Dan Dan and Gibbler.  Gibbler’s face was overgrown with debris from drainage from his sinuses due to rotted teeth and infection in his mouth.  Here is a link to his intake picture:  https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=894041856101293&set=a.756771159828364    He’s going to need a patient adopter.  He panics if someone tries to get close to his face and will react, growling and trying to bite.  We’ve worked with him to clean the drainage from his eyes by using a warm wash cloth and holding him while we clean.  When someone is not trying to “mess with his face” he is calm and quiet.  It’s just going to take time for him to understand that his mouth doesn’t hurt anymore because all of his dental issues have been addressed.  It’s so sad that he’s likely lived like this for years.  Gibbler does great in a kennel, sleeps most of the time and just needs a soft place to land to show him that humans want to help him, not hurt him.   If you think you are that person, we welcome your application. Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 8/16/2024:  Sizzle - male - approx 7-8 years old - 10.8 pounds - Yorkie/Poodle mix or Shih Tzu / Poodle mix Reason for intake:  We were contacted by a lady who met a lady in dire need of help with a lot of dogs she had accumulated over the years.  We made contact with the woman and went to her property to try to see what we could do.  The poor elderly woman was sincerely trying to take care of all the dogs (23 dogs) but just could no longer handle them all.  She was willing to let 11 go and we are working to help her by networking them to other groups.  We took in Sizzle and Jello for now and working on bringing in a third.  They are heading to the vet the week of August 19th for everything they need. Blessings.
