Story
This little lovebug came into our rescue with Gizmo and Bandit after their owner passed away. Sassy is a very sweet, loving girl, just 10 pounds, she is spry and energetic with no medical issues. Sassy loves people and is very affectionate with them. She bonds with her "person" quickly. She gets along with other dogs and has no aggression issues. She has not been exposed to children but older respectful teens will work for her. Sassy is housetrained (we're working on crate training), up to date with vaccinations, neutered and microchipped and she's a recent dental cleaning to show off her lovely teeth. Sassy's ideal home is one with another small friendly dog for company. A fenced yard is a must for her since she loves exploring her new surroundings. She spent much of her time outdoors and we want to keep her safe. Sassy is being fostered in Bayville, NJ. Open your heart to an older dog. They are the most often overlooked, but most deserving, dogs in shelters. Applications at www.pounddogfounddog.org. Meet Papaya! Hi there! My name is Papaya, but my foster family calls me Piyah. I’m a 3-4year-old Yorkie mix, and my foster mommy and daddy tell me all the time what a good girl I am! I have a laid-back personality and love to sleep, but don’t let that fool you—I’m always up for some treats! I get along well with dogs big and small, and once I warm up to you, I’ll be your little shadow (yes, even following you to the bathroom!). I walk well on a leash, and while I don’t love being carried, I don’t mind car rides—I usually just take a nap once I’m settled in. I’m also crate trained and find it to be a cozy little space to rest. Because I’m a little momma, I love being warm and don’t enjoy the cold or rain. I would do best in a calmer environment with a patient and kind person who will give me the time I need to be my best self. I also need another friendly dog in my home—I feel safest when I have a furry friend around, and I get anxious when left alone. Papaya is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She’s still working on her house training but is making great progress. She is dog and kid-friendly. Teddy is an 11 year old Yorkie mix in need of a foster! Teddy found himself back at the busy NJ shelter he was adopted from in 2019 after his owner passed away. He wasn’t doing well in the shelter so a PPAR foster agreed to take him in temporarily until a longer term foster home can be found. Teddy is dog friendly and a really sweet little guy. This sweet girl is a bit shy at first, but she’s coming out of her shell more each day, revealing a gentle and loving personality that’s sure to win your heart. Shirley is doing well with her house training and has made great progress in her foster home. She thrives in the company of other dogs, so a home with another dog would be perfect for her. Shirley is also kid-friendly, making her a wonderful companion for families with children. Though Shirley has limited teeth, it doesn’t stop her from enjoying her meals! Meet Stevie!   Stevie is an adorable almost 3 month old Yorkie puppy with a heart full of love and a knack for snuggling. His favorite spot? Curled up right under your neck, soaking up all the warmth and affection.   This little guy is incredibly smart—he picks up commands quickly and stops in his tracks with a simple “NO.” Potty training is going great, as he’s mastered the pee pad and even does his business outside when the weather allows.   One of Stevie’s best traits? He sleeps all night in his crate, knowing it’s bedtime as soon as his blanket is draped over the top. At just 3.7 pounds, he’s still too tiny to sleep in bed, but he’s perfectly content in his cozy setup.   Stevie adores his Yorkie sister, loves all humans, and always wants to be close—whether in your arms, at your feet, or curled up on the sofa. Leash training isn’t his favorite (especially with the recent windy weather), but for now, he’s happy just being the ultimate cuddle companion.   Super tiny, super smart, and super cute—Stevie is the best little snuggle bug around!   Stevie is available for adoption in NJ and surrounding areas. He is up to date on age appropriate vaccines and microchipped.
