For years, Sadie ruled Helen’s house with an iron paw. She perfected her art of silent staring to inform Helen of her potty needs, and when Helen took too long? Sadie found her own… creative solutions. Helen’s health eventually declined and she could no longer walk Sadie as often as needed. And Sadie, being a dog of strong opinions, made it clear that peeing on pee pads was acceptable, but peeing in other locations—once initiated—was an option she would gladly exercise. Helen's family knew it was time. Sadie needed a new home. She loves being carried and snuggled, but don’t let that fool you—she also has endless energy and lives for her walks. She barks at other dogs. Even ones she knows. Happily. But also at ones she doesn’t know. Less happily. She needs a bath once a week. She hates it at first but, with consistency, stops trying to escape like a soap-covered criminal. She’s very food motivated. If you have treats, you can teach her anything. If you don’t… well, good luck.

Meet Mae Mae, a precious 5 pound, 4 year old (estimated) Yorkie girl being fostered in Austin, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Say hello to the sweetest little 5 pound angel, Mae Mae! This good girl loves kids and is friendly with other dogs. We had the honor of taking in Mae Mae from an owner surrender who wasn’t able to give her the care she needs. Unfortunately her health needs have been overlooked before joining UYR and the vet has found her to have ear infections, eye infection, fungal infection, and multiple skin wounds from scratching herself so much. Fortunately the doctor has her on multiple medications and we’re already seeing some improvements in her scratching and discomfort after just a few days. Despite all the discomfort she is experiencing, she couldn’t be sweeter. She loves to cuddle and rest. She enjoys a walk but her tiny legs won’t get her far, so be prepared with a carrier if you want to go for a long walk. She does great in the car and in various carrying bags for longer adventures. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. Mae is mostly house broken, with just a few slip ups here and there. She is a calm and gentle little girl who handles a high traffic home well, as long as she is shown love and affection. She has lived with large dogs before and currently has a foster sister 10 times her size. Her 7 year old human foster brother enjoys her cuddles and attention as well. Mae Mae is an adaptable dog that would do well in a home or apartment (as long as she gets frequent potty breaks), with a large family or small, dog siblings or only child… as long as she feels safe and loved. Mae looks forward to finding her forever home!

You Can’t Always Get What You Want, but if you’re searching for a new friend, one of these pups would like to fill that role! Meet our Rolling Stones crew: Gimme Shelter, Sweet Virginia, Brown Sugar, and Midnight Rambler. These four pups are presumed to be siblings as they were all rescued from the same household. They appear to be well-socialized with other dogs, and are friendly and submissive toward humans, too! That said, each of these cuties has his/her own unique personality. Gimme Shelter is on the shyer side, but he will happily approach you for treats and belly rubs. Sweet Virginia is a young pup with a bouncy, curious outlook on life. Brown Sugar is a calm and collected lady who is nursing a newborn litter. And Midnight Rambler is a fun dude who is always ready to explore! As Yorkshire Terrier mixes, we know that these boys and girls are predisposed to be spunky, courageous, and affectionate. Their personalities will emerge even more once they have settled into their foster homes. If you Can’t Get No Satisfaction, give one of these rescues a try. Meet sweet Lulu, a 9 year old, 7 pound little Yorkie girl being fostered in Leander, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Meet Lulu, a precious 7.3lb, 9 year old little girl looking for her perfect forever home. Lulu came to UYR about a week ago surrendered from a life of breeding. Although she was a little producer, it is evident she was cared for and loved. She came with some teeth decay and a UTI, but all her blood work appears to be good and she is scheduled for a spay and dental next week. She will likely lose the remaining teeth she has, which is not many. She already has the oh so cute tongue hanging out of her mouth look that just melts your heart for the first look. While we are still learning all there is to know about Lulu, we have noticed that she does lie human attention, likes to snuggle next to you on the couch, is somewhat puppy pad and outside potty trained. She had some accidents in the first few days, but we believe that was due to her UTI. The past few days have been nothing but great potties on a pad or outside. She will bark and run around quickly when she needs to out side. She loves to run in the yard and sleeps well through the night. From what we can see so far, she will need to be in an adult home with someone around most of the time. She has plenty of love to give and is excited to start her journey in her new forever home.
