Story
Meet Pancake, a majestic Akbash who likely wandered away from her flock and found herself lost. Now, she’s ready to trade in her herding days for a cozy home preferably with another dog. This smart and loyal girl has made incredible progress from shelter to foster home. She’s mastered leash walking and loves exploring the neighborhood and trails. She’s also a big fan of playing with other dogs, lounging in the sun, and discovering the joy of snow. Pancake is a quick learner who already knows “sit,” “touch,” “shake,” and “down.” She is house and crate trained, and enjoys laying down with a toy just as much as a long walk.Pancake is a dog who has a unique personality and a set of social boundaries that require understanding and patience. She is a little nervous by nature, especially in situations where she feels the need to protect her space, which can be attributed to her Akbash heritage. As her owner, it`s important to recognize when Pancake is nearing her social threshold and create an environment where she can feel safe and in control. Having a designated quiet space—whether it’s a cozy bed, crate, or room where she can retreat to when things get overwhelming—will allow her to isolate herself when she needs to. This gives her a chance to decompress and prevents her from feeling stressed or anxious. What Pancake needs most is an owner who understands her subtle cues and is willing to respect her boundaries. By providing her with a space to retreat when needed, slowly introducing her to new situations at her own pace, and socializing her with new people on neutral territory outside the home, you can build her trust and help her feel more secure, ultimately creating a bond that respects her personality and individual needs. With time, she may become more social at home, but it’s important to let her set the pace of that process. With love, fun, and patience, Pancake will reward you with endless loyalty and affection. If you’re looking for a gentle giant with a goofy heart, Pancake is the perfect dog for you. Come to the humane society to find out how to be her forever human today!

Story
Hi there! I’m Bisquick, a sweet and spirited 6-month-old male Akbash, and I’m on the lookout for my forever home! I was found as a stray, and now I’m ready to find a loving family to call my own. As an Akbash, I’m part of a breed known for being loyal, protective, and gentle. I’ll grow up to be a great companion and a devoted guardian. Akbash dogs are known for their intelligence and strong instincts, so I’ll need a family who can provide me with training and socialization to help me thrive. I’m still just a puppy, so I have plenty of energy and curiosity! I’ll need a home where I can play, explore, and grow. Ideally, I’d love a space where I can stretch my legs—maybe a yard or a farm—because I’ll enjoy being active and having a job to do. If you’re ready to invest time and love into helping me become the best Akbash I can be, I would love to meet you! Let’s start our journey together and create some wonderful memories!

Story
Hello, I`m Nala! I was brought in because I was very stressed by the children in the home, and wasn`t coping well. I am doing much better in a children-free environment and am looking for a new spot to live my life to the fullest! I have lots of skills like walking well on leash, hand touch, sit on cue, and I am muzzle trained! I am not a huge fan of other dogs or cats, though can be around dogs from afar without issue. I am looking for a home that can meet the physical and mental needs of my breed, take me on lots of walks, and provide plenty of enrichment for me. Due to my history, a children-free home would be the best option for me. If you are looking for a big, sassy, LGD to parade around your house and yard notifying you of incoming squirrels and mailmen, come adopt me today!
