Story
Pearl is a 3 year old Akbash, which is a livestock guarding dog, originally from Turkey. Pearl has lived her whole life out in the field, keeping her flock safe from coyotes. Her previous owners are no longer able to care for their farm. Pearl is friendly to humans but she has never been indoors before and the shelter is a challenge for her. She is looking for a new job guarding livestock. Pearl is a very large girl, 94 pounds. She is up to date on vaccines, and because she is already spayed, her adoption fee is only $20. Pearl has tested positive for heartworm disease, a treatable infection caused by mosquitoes. You should discuss treatment options with your vet.
