Hello, Vancouver!  My name is Shilar (aka Sunny, aka Shade) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Malamute / Husky mixAge: 3 years (born 08/13/21)Gender: MaleWeight: 62 lbsHeight tbdHighlights: Gentle, intelligent, cuddly, loyal.  Loves attention from all humans and wants to meet all the dogs! I am so excited to be here in Canada!  I arrived in Vancouver in the fall of 2024 and have been having an amazing time living with my foster family.  I've had the pleasure of exploring parks, making other canine buddies, and discovering the joys of toys & cozy cuddles on couches.  This has been the ultimate upgrade from my previous life on the streets and shelters in Lebanon.  I was originally named Shade, likely because of my dark fur.  After settling in with my foster Mom, she renamed me Sunny because of my happy smile and zest for life.  Shilar is another one of my nicknames, which holds the connotations of peaceful and calm.  I am pretty adaptable, so while I mostly respond to Sunny, I trust that whichever verbal name my forever family chooses for me, they will say it with love-- and I will produce my winning smile and eternal affection in return!     Shilar aka Sunny was found in one of the most dangerous areas in Lebanon.  Local kids threw rocks at him, and residents would shoot at him to scare him away from houses when he approached in the hope of safety.  Dependant upon the kindness of strangers, rescuers discovered him hiding underneath a car.  He was alone, scared, and his litter mates and mom were nowhere to be found.Rescuers took Shilar / Sunny to a foster home in Lebanon where he was kept safe from the dangers outside.  With his basic needs met, he learned to trust humans and socialize with other shelter dogs. Upon his arrival in Vancouver he received a 5-star grooming treatment which disclosed an untreated puncture wound and was immediately treated at a loval vet hospital.  His recovery was swift and unveiled his playful and gentle demeanour!  Interested in squirrels and birds; with very little prey drive.... he mostly stares up to see where they've gone in the trees and sky.  He loves walks and running off leash in fenced areas.  Cuddles on the couch are a new favourite of his, and will be your's too once you meet this guy!  Really smart and eager to please, he'll gladly be willing to learn all that humans can teach him.Sunny would thrive in a home with a yard where he could run around and explore.  He gets along well with other dogs big and small, but doesn't understand when they don't like him.... he just wants to be everyone's friend.  Having "siblings" who are equally kindhearted would be wonderful-- he is great at sharing his food and toys!  Alternatively, being an only dog would be just fine too, as long as he can still meet other dogs on walks or at the park to share his love! While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. My name is Bryce, and I have quite the story to tell.   Breed: Alaskan MalamuteAge: 4 yearsGender: Male    Weight: 73 lbHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, rarely barks, no escape tendency I was found wondering the streets and ended up in a city pound as a stray. Despite having a microchip, no one came to claim me, and I was at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, I was saved and brought to a shelter, but unfortunately, I've been there for over a year without finding a family to call my own. Living in Korea's hot and humid summers hasn't been easy for me as a Malamute. I'm really hoping to find a home where I can be comfortable and happy. I'm not shy at all when it comes to meeting new people. In fact, I love it when strangers pet me and give me belly rubs. I'm a big fan of scratches and don't mind being brushed. Just be prepared for some shedding! I get along well with other dogs, regardless of their size. I've been living with 30-40 dogs at the shelter, so I'm used to being around many furry friends. However, I haven't had the chance to meet a cat yet, so I'm not sure how I would react. I have a moderate energy level and enjoy outdoor activities. I walk well on a leash and am confident in urban environments. Sudden noises and car rides don't scare me at all. In fact, I absolutely love car rides and enjoy looking out the window, feeling the wind on my face. I want to assure you that I haven't shown any signs of aggression. However, I do have a little possessive behavior when it comes to certain things. Sometimes, I won't let go of something I have in my mouth. But don't worry, the shelter is working on this with me, and it's recommended to continue "leave it" training after adoption. I don't have separation anxiety and rarely bark. You won't have to worry about me trying to escape either. I am crate-trained, but I haven't been housetrained yet since I haven't had the chance to live in a home. With a little patience and guidance, I'm sure I'll catch on quickly. I'm just a lovable Malamute looking for a family to call my own.
