Story
Taupo is a very sweet dog who grew up with her two adventure loving dog parents. She spent her youngest years going on daily walks, many hikes, and a number of backpacking trips. She loves going to the dog park and playing with all the new dogs. Taupo was socialized with cats and typically ignores them. Hiwever Taupo wasn't socialized with children and she has never understood children's erratic movements or how to play with them. Our family is growing and there are more and more young children around and it's too difficult for us to monitor her behavior around young children. Taupo loves to roam, play with other dogs, fetch, play chase, and go on lots of walks. She doesn't need a lot of direct attention but will form a close bond. Taupo has been an absolute joy but unfortunately she is best suited for adult companions. She will bring joy to anyone who adopts her and be a wonderful companion. We want to make sure she has a great new home where she can live her best doggie life.

Story
Ferdinand is a mellow gentleman who’s just waiting to meet you. At first, he doesn’t show much emotion, and he has some facial markings that make him look a bit dramatic. But once Ferdinand figures out you’re there to take him out, he’s all about it. He’s an easy-going leash walker and is friendly and well-behaved passing other dogs. If you’re looking for an adult member of your household, Ferdinand would be a great addition. He’s past the puppy stage, but still full of energy and curiosity. He will make a fine member of just about any new family. He appears to be housetrained.

Story
Luna is in desperate need of getting out of her current situation. She has been restricted to a trashed backyard, being tied up for a good portion of the time. While she is bursting with playful energy and a deep desire for companionship, her light continually seems to dim as she remains where she's at. Norsled Rescue will take on all of the costs (medical, supplies, food, etc.) if someone is willing to provide her a loving foster home. Please, please help. While I'm not certain how she gets along with other dogs, we can absolutely arrange a meet-up to find out. I believe she'd do best in a home without cats, but when she spent the night at my neighbor’s house, who has a cat, she seemed very indifferent to the cat. I am also unsure of her age, but am fairly certain she is not over the age of 2. Please note, she has been severely neglected her entire life. I anticipate that she will require help getting used to the excitement of living inside of a home.

This is Niko. He is an energetic puppy looking for a new home. I have 5 puppies and unfortunately can’t keep them per the city mandate. There is an urgent need to find him a happy loving home. He loves people and playing tug-a-war with his siblings. He has beautiful blue eyes that will melt your heart. Please help me find him a home not a shelter.

Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Story
Meet TOBI We don't know much about Tobi's past, but his future is very bright. He is a big boy with a heart the size to match. He is a gentle giant with a gregarious, carefree attitude and is eager to learn and experience the world. He is game for adventure and deserves to have that special someone to accompany him in life. Tobi is playful and has a welcoming aura about him. He also has an unabashed, confident side to him. He's just not sure how he ended up here, and we're making sure he never has to wonder that ever again. He is best as an only dog and someone with previous Akita experience is best. Tobi is approximately 5 yrs old, and due to his size should be on a good quality joint supplement. He's only been with us a short time, so will need to gain a few pounds to look his best, but he's already on his way to showing us his beautiful soul. Story
Meet Emi Emi’s sleek, brindle coat is a thing of beauty and so magnificent to behold. Engaging, charismatic, gregarious, and spirited are the first things you sense about her from the moment she enters a room. Emi exudes a brand of joy that makes her impossible to resist! Not until you witness her graceful elegance and see a bit of frost around her muzzle, do you realize she is a senior beauty with an abundance of life experiences to share. She’s 8 yrs old and has found herself homeless, but she’s seen enough in life to know there’s still a wonderous journey ahead. She is a lover of people and she’d much rather be enjoying a fun adventure with you by her side on interesting walks or trips to the beach, than be left at home alone. She needs to be an only dog and is not suitable with cats. She is approximately 60 lbs. and seems unaware she has some arthritis and hip dysplasia. But as you can see, she enjoys playing with her toys and doing tricks for treats. Her healthy curiosity keeps her engaged in life’s adventures, though she also loves her beauty naps. Please don’t let her age deter you from considering giving her a home. Her heart is overflowing with love. If you are interested in Emi, please complete our adoption application in the link below.
