Story
Meet Lucario (pronounced Loo-CAR-e-oh), a new big block-headed lover boy on the block. Lucario has history living with adults and dog-savvy cats. Lucario knows sit, down, shake (both hands), jump, up, stay, and catch! His favorite activities in his previous home include long walks on the beach, playing tug-of-war, and playing fetch. He also enjoys chew toys and ropes. While Lucario does not have much stamina, he has enjoyed playing chase with some canine friends here at the shelter. Lucario`s adoption fee is reduced to $75 as he is considered a senior pup (6 years and older!)Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Looks like: Bull Dog mix Male, 4 years old (estimated), 45 pounds Sir Ferdinand is a charming gent who would love nothing more than to be the star of your home. He's your typical Bull Dog -- he has slobbery kisses to share with anyone he meets. He also has the typical Bull Dog medical needs. Ferdinand loves to play, and would do beautifully in a home where he can can get out all of his energy! He likes to chew and play, and he will need a patient home where his guardians can provide him with proper dog stimulation -- toys, licky mats, and puzzles galore! We love this goofy guy, and know you will too! This bowling ball of a boy came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after he was picked up as a stray. They needed a rescue to take on his medical needs, which was only possible with the kind of help our dogs get in their foster homes.

Story
Looks like: Bulldog mix Female, 6 years old (estimated), 45 pounds Polly Pocket is one darling little lady who is ready to wiggle her way into your home. Polly is full of energy, and loves to play with people, pups and toys alike. She's a low-riding bundle of joy and is ready to give her new furever family a ton of love! She makes everyone giggle with her goofy smile and light-hearted nature. Polly also rides like a champ in the car and is super food motivated!! Polly loves to go for long walks multiple times a day with her foster dad. They are working hard on her leash etiquette and she can't wait to keep learning in her forever home. Polly gets along with other dogs and likes to play, but will let them know if they are invading her space too much by putting her paw on them. We love that she communicates like this, and think she will do best in a home with another dog who responds well to her boundaries. She has definitely had a few litters of puppies in the past, and we think Polly is showing her motherly instinct when she does this. She would also be great as a solo pup. This sweet lady came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after she was picked up as a stray.

Story
Meet Ruby 💎 Ruby is an extremely sweet and loving girl. She loves her people so deeply and isn’t biased on who gets her love! A giant bucket of pure joy! She loves to chew her toys! Also has the endurance for short walks and loves to explore new things to sniff! But she takes a strong arm as she is learning to not pull still. Continuing training with her is ideal as she has some catching up to do! With proper introductions- she happily lives with dogs! She does get overwhelmed with young children so we think it’s best that kids are older. She is crate trained, potty trained and knows basic commands. The parts we know of her past is heartbreaking! She was rescued from the kill list at Devour Animal Shelter. She was obviously used as a breeder dog who had many litters with the c section scars to prove it! Her back leg muscles were weak and she had urine burns which means she didn’t get time out of a crate besides being bred. Due to her past, she takes time to trust that other dogs are her friends. Ruby has been vaccinated, microchipped and fixed! She is ready for her new home! Ruby is about 5 years old.

Story
Hi there! My name is Goku and I'm a 1-year-old, neutered American Bulldog, Pitbull mix that currently weighs about 67lbs. Yes, I'm named after an anime character and if you've seen the show, our personalities are similar. My friends here at PHS say I'm a lovable goofball! I'm a big boy that is still working on my manners so I'd prefer a new family with large breed experience that's prepared to help me with my social skills and learning to share. I can be a little boisterous but it's all coming from a place of love. I just get so excited to see my favorite people! Because of this, I prefer to play with older children. If I sound like the perfect companion and you're looking to add a little Saiyan into your life, just ask Customer Service about Goku! ID# A955323  Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.March 14, 2025, 10:42 pm
