Story
We have so many great dogs in our program, but Brandy, with her tiny quotation mark ears, is one who has really grabbed our hearts. She is fiercely loyal and so, so smart. She adores treats and tennis balls. Brandy has been waiting years for a home, largely because she needs the right fit. An adult home with a strong routine would be optimal. She loves playing fetch and is excellent at it. Brandy is a tripod, but she has no idea she has any limitations, so please, please don't tell her she is any different from any other playful, graceful, athletic dog. Brandy isn't a fan of cats, and is selective about the dogs she chooses as friends. She needs an adult home, preferably with someone who can work with her and help her continue to adjust to life outside of the shelter. She's currently in a foster home and doing wonderfully, but really wants to find a home of her own.

Story
Our sweet, watchful Daisy is still looking for her hero. She's incredibly loyal and adores her human, especially the animal care staff and volunteers who take care of her. She has been an easy guest-- polite, relaxed and a gentle-walker on leash. Daisy was rescued by some Good Samaritans, who asked PAWS Atlanta for help with finding her a lasting home. She is deaf, so caring for her requires a bit of flexibility. New people and other animals can overwhelm her easily, likely because she can't hear. However, she's smart and eager to learn new skills. She loves treats and belly rubs. Daisy needs to be the only dog in her home. Although she's okay with seeing other dogs walking off in the distance at the shelter, she does not want them close to her. Daisy would be a really good fit for someone who is relaxed and friendly. She's not too active, although she does enjoy playing games and going for walks. If you would like to meet Daisy, send is an adoption application and we'll make it happen! Daisy's adoption fee has already been paid by a secret admirer!

Story
Labrador/Terrier mix senior male medium black/white Oh my, this sweet guy is so loving. He came in to our hearts as El Jefe, the "boss". Pushy he's not unless it's to wanting to give kisses and affection. He is a social dog and just enjoys being around people. We hope to put a happy ending to the story that brought him to us. Through no fault of his own, Jefe's owners brought him to the clinic to be euthanized. The vet thought Jefe had so much more life to live and love to share. He called and asked could we take him and find him a family who will love him.......the rest of his life. And that's the happy ending we are working on for him.......and we hope you will help. Jefe is happy being a couch potato but if you invite him to go for a walk...yeah...he's on it. Great on a leash. He may dawdle a bit.....that's canine speak for slowing down to check out all the wonderful smells. A great companion with whom everyday life is so much better. Great with other dogs. He lives at the School right now but ideal would be for him to be sharing his love with a family. Jefe is a young 10 year old, vaccinated, heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped and ready to put another bright spot in your every day life.

Story
"Courtesy Post" This is not a Street Paws animal but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  Lucky has had a very rough life so far. He needs a long term foster or furever home. We will cover all costs and supplies for a foster. He went to our vet for a thorough lookover, wound treatment and neuter. We thought for sure he was a senior however he is only 4-6 years old.   Here are the notes from the call with the vet. His liver and kidney values are good. He is a strong heartworm positive, he has an elevated white blood count (WBC), non-regenerative anemia, yeast infection on his skin and in his ears, his left ear is almost entire closed and is consider chronic, he is deaf in his left ear due to the untreated ear issues, he has limited hearing in his right ear. He will need ongoing treatment for his ears. His right testicle was atrophied. This could a tumor, diseased or maybe even cancer. We chose to neuter him to give him the best prognoisis and send it off for biopsy. He has bacteria in his urine, his fecal was negative. He has cranial nerve deficits possibly from the chronic ear issues. He has issues with his trigiminal and facial nerves, he eats funny due to this affecting the muscles, but his teeth look good. His pupils are mildly dialated and do not respond to light, blinking issues and likely optical nerve issues. He does have limited sight and smell. He is on prednisone in hopes to reduce inflamation and we hope that will also help his face, the nerve issues give hime the very excited look.  This boy is so sweet with everyone he has met. We do not feel he should be with cats. He has been with dogs and did fairly ok but due to the sight issues we think being an only pet may be best. He does love to play with his toys and his Pet Supermarket teddy bear is his favorite for now.  Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150 mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $250 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.  March 10, 2025, 2:39 pm

Story
I have had Bruce since he was 6 weeks, he is now 5 years old. He has been professionally trained. He will be great to the right owner who has experience working with dogs. He is well loved here, however, we have a young baby and we cannot expect the baby to know how to properly handle him and we are nervous for her safety as he does have some aggression concerns if not properly handled. Because of this, he has been a mostly outside dog for the past 2 years. However, now we are moving and will not be able to have an outside dog. New owner must have a lot of experience and no young children. He has a lot of energy and usually gets along great with other dogs. Loves playing fetch, taking long walks/jogs, and being very active.
