Story
Beetle-girl! She never falls short of being sweet, petite, and such a goof! Her personality shines bright, along with her adorable big brown eyes! Beetle doesn't tend to take too much serious, making her a joy for anyone and everything to be around. Whether she's giving you all the kisses while you rub her belly, or behind her ears, or she's staring nonchalantly at the camera while sitting on your lap, she NEVER fails to make us laugh. She's too cute to resist, and such a darling. While Beetle might be a bit of a jokester, she's also quite the cuddle buddy, and nothing tops snuggles for her, unless... it's a peanut butter kong. She may disagree with that, as humans are top-notch for her, kongs definitely come in close-second! The most amazing part of Beetle's personality, is how at just 4 months, and a mere 17 pounds or so, she's mastered her crate, and is very quickly learning her simple commands. Not to mention her eagerness to learn, but such keen gentleness to her excitement. She's quite the character to try to write a biography for, all around PERFECT. I can be adopted with a spay/neuter agreement! The refundable fee of $100 is INCLUDED in my $410 adoption fee! This fee covers my spay/neuter surgery (at the Monticello Vet Clinic), my vaccines: Bordetella, DA2PP, Rabies! & my heartworm test + preventatives! The $100 deposit is returned once proof of sterilization is furnished! Think I might be the perfect fit for your home? You can apply for me here https://animalwelfarefriends.org/adopt/application/ OR you can apply in person when you come visit me any day during business hours! You can even adopt me that same day once approved!! Please Note: All adoptions are on a first-come first served basis with approved adoption applicants. Story
Mr. Delaware! He is lively, lovey, and goofy all combined into one blue-eyed boy! Delaware never fails to crack us up with how animated he becomes when there's treats, or toys involved in anything! He even will sport an adorable smile when he gets extra happy! Delaware has done wonderfully with other dogs, and especially with people, too! Delaware is far too much of a snuggle bug to not be a couch potato, too. Anytime you take a seat anywhere, he is sure to keep your lap warm with his big old head, and plenty of kisses, you'll never be lonely with this guy! Delaware is quite literally the perfect canine companion, and while you're at work, he's happy as can be just to gnaw on a bone, or sprawl out on the sofa! He's a dog's dog, no doubt. A playgroup rockstar, he is absolutely willing to get some play on with just about any dog willing! We think he is about 2 years old, and he currently weighs 65ish pounds, but could definitely use the loss of some! If a part-time cuddle bug, part-time adventure buddy is right up your alley, come meet this guy! My adoption fee is only $210! This fee covers all of my vaccines, microchip, nex/heartguard, heartworm test, AND my spay/neuter! Please Note: All adoptions are on a first-come first served basis with approved adoption applicants. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Porkchop!! This handsome dude is around 4 years old, and 60 pounds of personality! Porkchop is seeking a super stable home, with an experienced dog owner.  He can be your couch potato partner if you bribe him with belly rubs, or your backyard companion helping to rid the yard of birds and squirrels (and tennis balls, too!).  Porkchop is super food motivated, so it was easy to train him to sit and we know he'll do great learning lots of other new commands.  He loves to be with his person, and can be somewhat standoffish with new people or situations.  Porkchop will need to be your only dog in the home, or possibly paired with a very docile and confident larger female dog.  Pushy or over friendly dogs don't mesh well with his personality.  No kids or cats for Porkchop, please! Porkchop can be  a vocal dog, he will talk and grumble at you to let you know what he's thinking - we think it’s pretty cute!  Porkchop's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that potential adopters current animals be altered, current on vaccinations and preventatives and be kept as indoor pets only.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 8:30 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nala really wants to make sure you have room in your bed and on your couch as napping is her #1 priority!  Nala likes to sleep in and has no desire to get up early in the mornings.  Once she decides to get up for her day, she does love a game of fetch, chewing on some toys, and making sure she gets fed.  Nala weighs 100 lbs and a DNA test shows she is 100% American Bulldog.  She does have some seasonal allergies that can flare up, but being fed high quality food has helped keep her mostly itch-free.  Nala does well with other easy-going dogs, as she can get bossy if other dogs are getting too excited or in her face.  She also gets along fine with the senior cat in her foster home.  A 5-6 foot privacy fence would be best for Nala, although other options may be considered. When you first meet Nala, she will be sure to let you know she is excited to meet you!! Nala's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that all applicants who have had pets have a demonstrated history of having kept them altered, current on vaccinations/preventatives and kept as indoor pets only.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration if you would like to meet Nala!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 8:30 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hoagie!! We just love this smushy faced boy, he needs an owner who will help him to grow his confidence in the world; introduce him to new experiences and provide slow social introductions to other dogs and people.  We don't know Hoagie's full background, but it's clear he was badly injured before joining Last Hope.  His back end is weak, and x-rays have shown old injuries that have since fused.  Hoagie does take prescription medicine for this and will need to continue on this long-term for pain/joint management. Hoagie might be a fit with another young, playful dog around his size or he would love to be your #1 guy.  He is not a fit with small dogs and is also not a fit with children under 16. He doesn't mind cats, as long as they have their own dedicated space should they want a break from him. Hoagie will love playing in your fenced in back yard, and then cuddling on the couch...but be warned, he's a snorer! Hoagie can be very wary of men, so he needs a patient and kind owner who is prepared for introducing him slowly to new people.    Hoagie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a FREE basic obedience course at Cedar Run Pet Boarding in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit as well as multiple meet and greets for dogs.
