Even though Odie was abandoned by his previous family, he still loves people. He gets along with other dogs and children. He is high energy and hasn't learned to meet other dogs. He can be a bit intimidating to other dogs. His foster brother is a small 13 yr old rat terrier and Odie loves to sleep with him. It takes a slow introduction for him to settle down. If you want a hiking or camping buddy, Odie is your guy. Playing fetch and tug are also favorite things that he likes. He would love a family who would treat him like a family member. . He has already had his dental and is ready to start his new life as a family member. Winnie has been waiting a while for her forever home and decided to take matters into her own paws. Her Tinder Profile: Sweet, affectionate girl seeks loving home with lots of treats, walks and car rides. I'm an intelligent, friendly, goofy 5 yr old American Bulldog. I'm spayed and UTD on all my wellness and vaccinations. I do have hypothyroidism but it is easily managed with 2 inexpensive medications. I get along with most dogs. Cats are ok if the are aloof but no young children please (older teenagers are ok). I have had basic obedience and excel at that. My leash manners are impeccable and I love my walks. We can help keep each other healthy! My foster mom says I have big personality and need firm but gentle handling. I am a foodie though, and very treat motivated. I have to be honest and telI you I have had rare incidents of resource guarding. It has happened when I have been able to steel your stuff. It is not uncommon behavior in dogs and manageable with strategizing and behavior modification. I have lots of love and laughs to offer an experienced dog owner that is willing to give me a chance. Foster Update: Kobi is doing very nicely - still very good in the apartment learning new things and enjoying outing to Seashore state park. He is a hoot! Things Kobi taught me in (4) days He is sweet lovable and attentive. Eager to please. He will bring his bowl to eat WITH you. Eager to help around the apt (by putting his toys all around). Curious /engaged. He loves showers. He doesn’t appreciate being left - he’s pushy about coming along BUT I have been going in and out to practice. He will stop and halt to a sharp whistle and sharp “Halt” (thankfully!) He is settling in - not pacing/panting or restless. He boops you with a toy to play. A cuddler and kisser sometimes a little much kissy face. Wonderful with small children good with people - even when walking at dark. A little hesitant in new venues. NOT any fan of any dog. Curious about squirrels, can leave them easily. Good with his toys and an absolute gentleman in the apt out of his crate today during work!!!! Kobi arrived at the shelter after his owner couldn't find time to care for him. He is a hefty lovebug of a dog! He is said to be house and crate-trained. He also doesn't mind baths. We were told he doesn't enjoy other dogs and we would recommend a home with no other pets. Kids are okay! He also enjoys giving kisses. PUPPY - 2 1/2 years old, 80 pounds, house trained, good with kids, needs to be only pet, needs special care for allergies including baths, shots, and supplements, pulls on leash. PUPPY is a sweet and active big boy. The first thing you notice about him is that he looks pink. Yep, pink. He does have allergies and whether or not this is causing his skin to be pink, we are not sure. He has very thin short white fur which doesn't hide the pink. Puppy is house trained and said to be good with kids although he can get rough with them. He is happy and playful. He loves people and loves to cuddle. Puppy is used to being walked several times a day and when on these walks, he seems to look for critters to chase. Better have a good hold on that leash! He will need supervision when outside and secure fence as he was able to escape the yard a few times. Puppy is said to be nervous when left alone. Puppy is currently in our large dog adoption kennel so if you are interested in meeting him, come on out! We are open daily 12-5 pm and located at 341 S Birdneck Road, VB. STRAWBERRY SUGAR CUBE - 1-5 years old, around 50 pounds, friendly, pulls hard on leash From the start Sugar Cube clearly just wants your attention and love. She even jumps for hugs. Sugar Cube was found as a stray but we did find her name on her microchip, yep, a microchip so we know she was in a home with a family but somehow got separated and never reclaimed. She pulls super hard on the leash, maybe it's bc she is in this strange new environment, maybe she's trying to find her family, maybe she's just a dog who pulls on the leash! She is super playful, loves to chase tennis balls and I bet she loves toys, too. Sugar Cube is full of activity, ready to run, ready to zoom, ready for those hugs. This affectionate girl's first instinct is to jump op on you for attention which might imply training in the near future to help curb these excited behaviors and in the meantime, will help create a strong bond between you as well. We are still learning about her and will update this information as we find out more. Until then, however, we can say she seems very intent when she sees other dogs. We don't yet know if she likes other dogs or not so plan on bringing any resident dog in for a meet and greet and be prepared for supervision. Gypsy and Skylar, a bonded pair are ready to find their perfect home. Gypsy, the Old English Bulldog is 1-1/2 years old and 46 pounds. Skylar, the Boston Terrier is 2 years old and 17 pounds. Both are neutered and UTD on vaccines. They were not house trained when they came to us, but both are improving with the ongoing training. If they are taken outside on a regular schedule, accidents do not occur. They do great on a leash and love car rides. Both are kennel trained. As far as energy levels; Skylar is a go-go (full of energy) and Gypsy is a slow-go (couch potato). Skylar, in true Boston fashion, loves to run, jump and play with toys but when she’s ready for bed, she’s a snuggle bug. Gypsy, in true Bulldog fashion, enjoys leisurely walks and laying on the couch while chewing her favorite toy. Both are great with children as long as they’re old enough to withstand dogs that jump. They also get along with other dogs, but cats; not so much. Both girls are super chewers and need a variety of toys that cannot be easily destroyed. Dog beds are not a safe choice for the dynamic duo and only blankets should be used. Both sit on command and are very food/treat motivated. A fenced yard is required since Skylar will run and chase anything that moves. Gypsy and Skyler are the sweetest girls and have never met a human they won’t lick. They have a lot of love to give and would do best in a home where they are not left alone for long periods. This wonderful bonded pair is fostered in Kearneysville, WV.
