Story
HI - I'M ROCKY, and without question I've had a 'rocky' time of it lately. I am a 5-year-old male American Eskimo mix recently rescued from a California shelter. My skin was a mess and I looked like something out of a horror film but honestly, I'm as sweet as they come. I'm a happy and energetic boy, great with other dogs and people. Picked up as a stray, I was found to have Demodex (non-contagious) mange, along with an ear infection. Additionally, I've been diagnosed with an unusual auto-immune disorder, causing the loss of fur on my face, feet and body. My condition will need to be managed with an inexpensive medicine, possibly indefinitely. (Though some natural therapies may also help.) The good news?! My infections are resolved, but my fur is patchy and it's going to take some time for it to grow back. When it does, I am going to be one handsome dude! I'm still a bit underweight at 25 pounds and I eat heartily. Regular baths and brushing will help me regain that luxurious Eskie coat. I love baths as they make me feel so good! Despite it all, I have a wonderful mellow disposition. I love to go on walks (I get quite excited when you pick up my leash!), and I love to lie around and relax. I adore people and am wonderful with cats, other dogs and kids. I'm also housebroken, crate-trained and know a few commands. I am currently being fostered near San Diego. My foster parents love me and are nursing me back to health. I need a kind, loving, compassionate owner whom can help me live my best life -- someone who understands that my condition will need to be monitored. Please email for an application.
