Story
Martha is a gorgeous, mild-mannered girl who is looking for a calmer home with another dog friend. Martha thrives and is so happy with another doggie companion to pal around with that we are requiring that for her future home. She would also do best with a fenced yard because she really enjoys spending time outside exploring and lounging.
- Approximately 8 years old and 31 pounds but needs to shed a couple pounds
- We guessed on her breed mix of American Eskimo dog because she looks so much like one. She would be a fun one to DNA test! She has shorter legs and a longer body with a beautiful full, long haired tail. Martha was a momma dog and her puppies DNA tests came back as Chihuahua/Husky/Poodle.
- Polite, calm dog who is sweet and still learning the world is a safe place at times. Will do best in a nurturing, patient home who will help her bolster her confidence.
- Good with other dogs and has lived with 12 other dogs at a time in the foster home she came from in California. Zero aggression with other dogs.
- Potty trained
- Crate trained and willingly sleeps in her crate at night
- Rides well in the car
- Good with gentle kids and we prefer kids ages 10+ if there are children in her future home.
- Walks easy on leash and enjoys her walks. She's enjoyed regular 2 mile walks each day and can go pretty far.
- Cats unknown
- No separation anxiety or leash reactivity noted
- Knows sit, stop and wait
MEDICAL:
Martha does require a prescription kibble and wet food diet to prevent bladder stones. She recently had surgery to remove a large bladder stone. She will need to be on the special diet for life.
Martha came to us with her litter of older puppies after they could not find homes in California due to the dog overpopulation problem there. She was as neighborhood stray most of her life. Martha is eager to find a loving home to cherish her and show her a happy life.
Martha is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, bloodwork done, dewormed, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Tualatin, or Portland.
