Story
Meet Shimmer, a super sweet 5-6 year old spayed female chihuahua! She is a tiny gal, weighing about 6 lbs. Shimmer was rescued from a hoarding case in east TN, and she and 9 other chihuahuas (several of whom were pregnant) were taken in by Paws Rescue League. They were in a TN foster home for over a month decompressing and learning to trust people. Shimmer is now in New England and ready to find her furever home! Shimmer is a "tripawd", she is missing the lower portion of her back left leg. We don't know how she lost her leg as she came into rescue in this condition, but it does not stop her one bit! She runs and jumps around just fine and she does a cute little hop. From Shimmer's current foster: "Shimmer is a very timid, nervous girl who takes time to warm up to new people. She has not had the best life, but she is learning that people can be kind and not so scary. She needs someone who is patient and gentle with her, and who will let her come to them on her own terms. Once you earn her trust, she is an absolute sweetheart and will take treats from your hand and give gentle kisses. Shimmer LOVES other dogs and feels most safe around them (she prefers dogs who are mellow like her). Her current BFF is her 70 lb lab mix foster brother, who she snuggles next to and on top of! She is good with cats as well. Shimmer is a special girl who deserves a second chance and a true furever home"  Due to her shyness, we recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space, or no kids. Shimmer is medically up to date, crate trained, and working on pee pad training. Apply to meet this darling girl today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2269188##

Story
Meet Spruce, a handsome 2-3 year old neutered  male chihuahua! Spruce was rescued from a hoarding case in east TN, and he and 9 other chihuahuas (several of whom were pregnant) were taken in by Paws Rescue League. He spent over a month in his TN foster home decompressing and learning to trust people, and he is now doing the same in his New England foster home. Spruce is a timid, nervous boy who takes time to warm up to new people, so he will need someone who is patient and gentle with him, and who will work with him on continued socialization. Once you earn his trust, he is a very sweet boy!  He is good with other dogs, not cat tested but we assume he would be fine with cats. Due to his shyness, we recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space. From Spruce: "Hi everyone!  Spruce here!  I’ve been with my foster mom for a while now and I want to make sure no one forgets about me.  Truth is, I’m a scaredy-boy, but I’m getting bolder.  Mom says I’m the best at playing red light - green light, because I follow her everywhere and then freeze when she looks at me.  I didn’t leave my crate for two weeks when I got here, but now I play with toys, chase my foster brothers, do playful scoots with mom, and swat her for pets since I’ve seen my brothers do it.  Also, I need to be RIGHT NEXT TO YOU when I sleep.   Mom says I remind her of a baby fawn, and thinks I have a bit of dachshund in me.  If you have the patience to work with me, I promise you won’t regret bringing me into your home!" Spruce is medically up to date, crate trained, and pee pas trained.  Apply to meet this special boy today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable.
