Story
Meet Chika!Chika is a 7-year-old Pitbull with a lot of energy and affection to give. She loves cuddling with her people and is always excited to play. One of her charming quirks is her "tippy tappys" - a little dance she does when she's excited, and it's sure to bring a smile to your face.Chika is a sweet and energetic dog who would do best with an experienced owner who understands her needs. While she has a lot of love to give, she's still learning how to act around other dogs, so she will require management in these situations-such as using tools like a leash and proper distance-to help keep her calm. While she's still working on her social skills, she'll also benefit from continued training. Chika would thrive in a home where she's the only dog or with an owner who is committed to both managing her reactivity and actively helping her improve her social interactions. Patience and consistency will be key to her success. If you're looking for a sweet, energetic dog who's ready to bond and learn, Chika could be the perfect match!Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Chika's person? Apply today!TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Leaving these questions empty inhibits our ability to make the best match possible and effects the likelihood of receiving a call back.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting! Some animals may not be viewable due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Kitten and puppy meet and greets are by application only.Due to the high number of applications, we will ONLY be following-up with the chosen adopter. If you do not hear back within a week, it's likely the animal has already found a forever home. Phone inquires and emails regarding the status of your application cannot always be prioritized.Animals cannot be held for potential adopters for more than 24 hours without a legitimate reason. Story
Meet Mia!This 5 month old puppy is an absolute gem with a beaming personality. She is a high energy puppy who is still learning all about the ways of the world. She is an energetic pup with a ton of potential, however she does struggle with boundaries and amplified puppy behavior. She has the tendency to get overly aroused and can become mouthy in a high stimulation environment. She is looking for a very specific home that can cater to her needs and continue thorough and in-depth training. She has specified needs that will require follow up with our team and will need to go into a foster home in order to have the best success in her forever home.Note: As with all puppies, we recommend puppy-proofing your home and preparing for the commitment of training, exercise, and socialization. The more time and effort you put into training now will pay off tenfold when they grow into a giant slobbery member of your family. Remember, adoption is a big decision and lifetime commitment to the dog - Mia will grow into a big, strong dog and will need a family that's ready for the adventure!Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Mia's person? Apply today!TIP: We strongly suggest all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting. Some animals may not be available for public viewing due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Due to the high number of applications, we will only be contacting select individuals to further review their interest. If you do not hear back from us, it is possible that this animal has already found a forever home. You can always call or email to inquire about your application further and our staff will do our best to get back to you when time allows. Animals cannot be held for potential adopters for more than 24 hours without a legitimate reason. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 17.8 Age: 0yrs 6mths 0wks

Story
Meet Gemma!Gemma is a super duper active gal who's full of pizzazz! Gemma was brought into care under murky circumstances, so we don't have much history for her. We do know that Gemma had a litter of puppies in her past.Gemma does have a lot of energy, and will need a pawrent who can physically handle her, and give her the amount of mental and physical exercise she'll need to live an enriched and fulfilled life. Gemma would do well to work with an Animal Kind Certified Trainer in her new home. She may prefer to be the only dog in the house but has potential to make doggy friends given a proper introduction!Do you think you could be Gemma's person? Here are some ways to find out: 1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Tuesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or 2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters! Story
**Currently fostered in Houston Texas but is available for out of state adoption via rescue transportation. Virtual meet and greet offered prior to adoption commitment** Kyra is a happy go lucky pup who found herself abandoned on the streets. She was emaciated, had poor skin and just full of worms. Thankfully an amazing woman found her and took her in. She got her clean, well fed, and fully vetted. Now, Kyra is ready to start the next chapter in her adventure! Kyra is just over 2 years old, and is a total hambone of a dog. We believe she is some kind of pitbull, retriever, hound mix. Basically what we call, a Texas Street Special! Whatever her breed, she is all adventure pup and very eager for life. Kyra loves people, I don't think she could ever meet a stranger. She's extremely loving, and enjoys cuddles on the couch, giving kisses, and looking cute for treats! We think she would even do wonderfully with children. Kyra has done wonderful with other dogs as well. She is fantastic at her doggie daycare, does well at dog parks, and loves to play. She doesn't mind the cats, She does chase them at times when she just wants to play. Kyra is not an aggressive dog, but she can lack the meaning of personal space and some of the cats we've introduced her to have not taken kindly to that. We think she could do well in just about any home, however, she would prefer to have regular play mates that can keep up with her be it siblings or play mates from friends, neighbors or daycare environment. She just wants to enjoy life with someone! Kyra does very well with training, mostly due to the fact that she's so smart. She learns quickly, and at times, can be TOO smart. Like how she knows how to push the door open if it's not latched properly. She knows her basics such as sit, kennel, stay. Her only need for training is working on her impulse control. She is fully crate trained, and is doing fantastic with her leash training. She is housebroken, but being such a big pup still, we suggest using a kennel until fully acclimated. Though she quite enjoys cuddling in the bed or couch. Kyra is fully vetted, meaning she is current on all vaccinations and preventions. She is spayed as well as microchipped too. For more information on how to adopt Kyra, contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com.

Story
Meet Mick, a smart, affectionate dog looking for a loving home where he can be the center of attention. He would thrive as the only pet in the household, though he gets along well with dogs outside of the home. Mick has some separation anxiety, so he needs a patient and understanding guardian who can help him with slow departure exercises as he adjusts to his new environment.Mick is comfortable with teenagers but would do best in a home without young children. He enjoys outdoor activities, particularly running around in the yard playing fetch, and he's a joy to walk on a leash. At the end of the day, Mick loves nothing more than cuddling up on the couch with his people. His eagerness to please and his intelligence make him an incredibly rewarding companion for someone willing to invest in his emotional well-being and training. If you're looking for a loyal and loving dog to share your home with, Mick could be the perfect fit for you! Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet Mick. Lexie came to us when the previous guardian had to move and could not take her with. This lady is a true sweetheart and, despite her size, believes she is a lap dog. She is calm around other dogs but we are not sure if she actually enjoys them or needs them in her life. Her new home will have to be committed to working with a vet on her weight loss journey. Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me.
