Charlie is one of our most playful pups, full of love and spirit, but he keeps getting overlooked, being passed by at both our last two adoption events.Charlie is one of our most playful and unique pups at only 1yr old. He absolutely loves to splash around in the pool during the summer and could bring so much joy to someone's life-he just needs a chance. Since he has spent so much of his young life life in the shelter, we are looking for someone truly committed to helping him grow and learn and guide him to help him be the best version of himself. Charlie is a bit... well, quirky when it comes to playing with other dogs. He's a talker and has a playstyle not many other dogs appreciate, so finding him a playmate it tricky. Lulu is an amazing dog who will steal your heart with her affectionate ways, kind eyes, & easy personality. Her favorite thing in the whole world is to sleep on the couch or or play with her toys. Lulu seemed to get along with other relaxed chill dogs but unfortunately, we learned that Lulu ends up being too possessive of her space & things after she was adopted with a senior dog in the home. She’s likely seen a lot of cats in her life, and because of her docile personality, it’s possible that she could live with a dog- savvy cat but we’re marking her “no cats” for now until we learn something new. Up until her recent adoption, Lulu had lived her entire life tied up to a tree in an homeless encampment in California. She was found pregnant, taken to a loving foster home where she had puppies & was the best mama ever. She was brought here in a crate and didn’t have any accidents in the crate, and is mostly house trained. She has been one of the easiest dogs to handle and filled with such a loving spirit, despite her rough start in life. We would LOVE for her to be in a new home ASAP.

I’m a 5-year-old pit bull with a big heart & tons of positive energy! I’m sweet, loving, & ready to be your best friend forever. If you love going on walks, runs, or just being active in general, I’m your perfect partner. I’m always up for a good time, especially if it involves toys! I absolutely adore them & will keep myself busy for hours playing and tossing them around. But I’m not all just play! I’m protective of my family & have a soft spot for the people I love. I’m super sweet & cuddly once I trust you, but I do like my space sometimes. I’d prefer to be the only pet in the house. I haven’t had issues with other animals, but I just don’t enjoy sharing my space. So if you’re looking for a one-pet home, that’s me! I’m crate-trained & house-trained, so I know how to keep my space clean. When I’m left alone, though, I need to be crated where I feel safe & comfy. I’m a bit of a work in progress on the leash—I'm okay, but sometimes I forget my manners and pull a bit. I’m totally open to learning though, & treats are a great motivator to help me get even better. I already know some commands like "sit," "lay," and "jump" (just raise your hand, and I’ll do it!). I’m very food motivated, so I’m always ready to learn more if you’re patient with me. Oh, and about my boundaries: I don’t like being bothered when I’m eating or resting, so older kids who can respect that are ideal. I’m great with adults & would love a home where I can get plenty of attention and fun, but I do need some quiet time too. Behind every shelter pet, is a person with a story. This story is a sad one, & we’ve thought long & hard about how to tell it while respecting the privacy of the people involved & also doing what’s best for the animals in our care. These two dogs were found in a dog park restroom several hours away from here. On the floor nearby, was the weathered adoption paperwork for one of the dogs with our shelter’s info. Toys, beds, & pet supplies were left behind, too. They were found by a Good Samaritan who contacted in animal rescue after local dispatch told her that there were no shelter resources available & the dogs “could be let go.” The animal rescuer (we will call her Beth), found a trusted volunteer to keep the dogs safe while she reached out to us. Beth explained the situation & how the dogs appeared to be quite bonded, and asked how to proceed. We immediately began working with Beth to schedule a transport for both dogs to our shelter. A short time later, the volunteer who was housing the dogs found a note hidden beneath the harness of of one of the dogs (redacted photo attached). It explained how the woman had entered a domestic violence shelter, could not find a safe place for the dogs to go, & prayed that they would be in a new home together. Beth went the extra mile & found the woman to ensure that she was OK & to let her know that the dogs are now safe with us. She talked about how sweet & precious these two were, & how in a moment of desperation, she had to prioritize her kids. Kali (the fixed, female, pitbull, 4 years old) is extremely attached to Benji (the fixed, male, bernadoodle, 2 years old) and it’s our hope that we can find the right home for them to go home to, together. Benji is big and energetic and loves kisses and sitting in your lap. Kali is quiet and reserved. The woman had three smaller kids (approximate ages 6-10) and no cats. They are house trained. They are both vaccinated and microchipped. Adoption fee: $200 for both dogs.
