Story
Meet Oscar: The Four-Legged Stand-Up Comedian! Hey there, potential fans—uh, I mean, adopters! My name is Oscar, a 4-year-old, 55-lb pit mix with more personality than a reality TV reunion show. Looking for a best friend who’s equal parts active, sweet, and absolutely ridiculous? Well, stop scrolling, because you’ve found him! Let’s get this straight: I’m not just a dog—I’m an experience. When I’m not showing off my zoomie skills (self-proclaimed fastest in the backyard), I’m perfecting my comedic timing. Need a laugh? Watch me try to catch a treat mid-air. Spoiler alert: I’m terrible at it, but I guarantee you’ll cry-laugh. I’m a big fan of the great outdoors. Hiking? Let’s do it! Walks? Grab the leash! Couch potato-ing after? Say less. I also specialize in “enthusiastic greetings,” which means you’ll never feel unappreciated when you come home. Tail wags? Check. Whole-body wiggles? You bet. Possibly knocking over a houseplant in the excitement? Oops. I’m as sweet as I am goofy. I’ll happily soak up belly rubs, and I’m pretty sure I’d fit on your lap if you let me try (it’s a scientific experiment, really). While I’m friendly with people of all ages, I’d thrive in a home where I can burn off some energy and then snuggle up afterward. Other dogs? We’ll have to meet and see if we vibe. Cats? I’ve heard they exist, but I have yet to meet one and would probably try to be their best friend-slash-annoying little sibling. If you’re ready to laugh daily, exercise often, and cuddle endlessly, I’m your guy. Come meet me—Oscar, the four-legged comedian—and let me win you over with my charm, silliness, and oversized personality. Seriously, I’m paws-down the best decision you’ll ever make!

Story
🚨 BODE: PART DOG, PART PERSONAL TRAINER, FULL-TIME GOOBER 🚨 Meet Bode, a 3-year-old Pit Mix with the brains of a scholar, the energy of a toddler on espresso, and the sweetness of a dog-shaped marshmallow. 🏆 BODE’S TOP SKILLS: ✔ Athleticism – He runs, he jumps, he zooms. You? You just try to keep up. ✔ Brilliant Mind – Knows commands, learns fast, probably smarter than your ex. ✔ Personal Trainer Vibes – Encourages exercise whether you asked for it or not. ✔ Snuggle Mode – After all that activity, Bode enjoys flopping dramatically onto you for cuddles. ✔ Master of Puppydog Eyes™ – Can convince you to give him “just one more treat” at least 47 times a day. ✔ Unlicensed Therapist – He will listen to all your problems while making intense eye contact (and probably licking your face). Bode loves adventures, playtime, and showing off his mad skills. He’d be a perfect running buddy, a great student for continued training, or your new couch companion (once he wears himself out, of course). Bode is looking for an active home where he can show off his smarts, get plenty of exercise, and, most importantly, be completely adored. If you’re up for the Bode experience—equal parts fun, chaos, and unconditional love adopt him today. If interested, please call the shelter at 231-861-5395 and leave a message to be placed on this dog's adoption list. No obligation, but it reserves your place in line on the list. The shelter will contact individuals as they appear on the list. Ask about adoption transportation assistance if you do not live in the local area. The adoption fee is $95 and you receive certificates for $50 towards spay/neuter and $10 towards rabies vaccine if not already done. All dogs are heartworm tested, receive a DHLPP, flea and tick treatment, a bordetella vaccination and are dewormed.

Story
Meet Razzle Dazzle! We believe this cutie is about 2 years old. He is about 70 pounds. He is such a sweet boy and is a staff favorite here at Mapleview and the rescue! Everyone loves to be greeted by him in the morning and say goodbye to him when they leave for the day.   Razzle loves all people! He has done well with other large dogs he has met. We have not yet introduced him to small dogs. He does need a cat free home. He likes to play and has a lot of energy! Razz needs some training with basic obedience and leash training (he has quite a prey drive) but he is eager to please and smart, so just needs someone with time to commit to him.   We have discovered that Razzle has some allergies which is not surprising with his beautiful white coat and his breed. He came to us with some very sore and torn up paw pads and wounds on his legs. He does better with apoquel, which is an expensive allergy medication. We are currently trying a hypoallergenic prescription diet with him to see how it manages his allergies as a more cost effective option longterm. But, he is worth it! He is such a good boy and deserves to be comfortable!   An approved adoption application is required. The $250 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; heartworm and tick disease testing; fecal w/ giardia testing, monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention . Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.November 13, 2024, 9:37 am
