Story
We have someone special we'd like you to meet! 😍 Please welcome Sunny! She is a 2 year old pit mix. This happy girl has been living the good life with her foster family for the past few months! Check out what she has to say about her new life! "I really like it here with my foster moms, so far I have learned: ✨I love to watch tv! My favorite shows are the office, true crime, scary, and action movies! ✨My mom says I’m a super chewer, not sure what that means but sounds to me like I’m a super hero of some kind! 💪 ✨Just because I have 3 legs doesn’t mean it slows me down! I’m the fastest dog in the wild Wild West 🏃‍♀️💨! I love to run in the yard, get zoomies in the house, and slide on the wood floors! Sometimes I do bump into things, but foster mom says bumper cars are fun! ✨I’m a fast learner 📚✏️🎓! My trainer even says so! I’m working hard on my manners and doing really good! ✨I’m potty and crate trained! ✨I love HUMANS!! I mean they are kinda goofy looking but I love snuggling, playing, being pet, and spending time with them! My foster mom calls me her shadow! I can even hug them if they let me!! Hugs and Licks, Sunny Bunny 🐰❤️" If your interested in adopting this girl, or just want to learn more information, check out our website!

Story
Meet Cyan! She’s a one year old female, dog and kid friendly, spayed, and up to date on vaccines! She has Basset Hound like-legs that turn out and look quite unique! Yet they don’t slow her down whatsoever and don’t need any treatment! Here’s what her foster has to say about this love bug!! Cuddler alert!! Cyan just wants to be near her people. While I work at home she lays next to me wherever I am, lulling me with her soft breathing. She’s not at all demanding, but she has adorable zoomies and likes to play ball or chase. She takes treats very gentle, and even eats without a mess. She is excellent while walking; rarely goes ahead of me, and a gentle tug brings her right back to my side. She LOVES rides, and she’s good with kids. She’s also a good guard dog as she alerts every time there is an unusual noise. It only took her a week to know her limits in our household. She’s such a good baby! Please email us if you’d be interested in meeting Cyan!! petstophererescue@gmail.com

Introducing the cutest ‘low rider’ ever… Stumpy! Stumpy is an around 3 year old male with the body and face of a pit/mix, and the legs of a weiner dog! He is also one of the funniest boys! He gets all wiggly when he greets you and loves to give hugs! He currently lives with other dogs and is dog friendly! He’s been out with a large group of dogs in our play yard both big and small! Story
Meet Sugar!! This little lady came from the city shelter a couple of weeks ago and has been hanging out in boarding with us. We are hoping she will find a foster soon! Sugar is around 3 years old, around 60 lbs, and has the cutest speckled fur! Sugar is exactly how she is named; as sweet as can be! She’ll immediately roll over for belly rubs and pets as soon as any human is in sight! She seems to be house trained, as she has never made any messes! Sugar has met a handful of dogs and has done well! There will need to be a meet & greet beforehand with any dogs in the household! She would do best with no cats! There is nothing but love and happiness when around Sugar. She always has the biggest smile on her face and radiates positivity! She deserves a home to call her own! Send us an email if you’d be interested in meeting Sugar! petstophererescue@gmail.com

Story
Bubbles is a beautiful spayed female Boxer Mix She just graduated for our Path To Home Program which involves obedience training for 8 weeks. Bubbles is housebroken, crate trained and good with other dogs but no cats please. She LOVES to play ball and would probably do it all day if she could. Bubbles is a very affectionate dog with a sweet personality. She is  currently at the Shelter. Volunteers For Animals and Orleans Correctional Facility have developed a Dog Training & Fostering Program within the prison that will provide socialization and basic obedience training for the dogs before being adopted. Volunteers For Animals will be pulling dogs from high kill shelters and locally who may be in need of behavioral support to become more adoptable. The dogs will then be transported to Orleans Correctional Facility where they will live with selected inmates who will care for them 24 hours per day for approximately 8 weeks. Each dog will have a crate, bedding, leash, collar, training treats, and food provided by Volunteers For Animals. A certified dog trainer will provide weekly training classes for the dogs and the inmates. The inmates will then work daily to reinforce the formal training with the dogs. Adoption Procedures The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the Path Home animals are $200 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. All of the dogs are current on vaccines, heart worm tested and spayed/neutered. If you would like to be considered for any of the Path to Home dogs, please email us. Please do not call the Shelter regarding Path Home animals - they do not have any information. Email us at info@vol4animals.org regarding this program.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.March 2, 2025, 3:08 pm
