This means it is possible for the kneecaps to move out of the patellar groove. This is a common orthopedic issue in dogs.  At this time, it is not painful and does not cause any trouble. Some dogs will live with a low-grade medial patellar luxation their entire life with no problems; however, in some dogs, it can be progressive and surgical intervention may become necessary. Foster Home Feedback  7/5/24 Foster Feedback: Munchkin. There’s so much to say about this awesome girl!! We have had Munchkin since mid-April of this year. She needed a big surgery on her knee shortly after we took her in so have had her during her healing and recovery. She was an absolute angel for all of her rehab exercises and is now ready to find herself a much deserved forever home! Munchkin is a young dog and so has that typical young dog exuberance and zest for life and, dare I forget to mention, sass for days. There is never a dull moment with this gal around! She is great at finding things to entertain herself but sometimes needs reminders as to what is ok to chew on and what is not. She's a sneaky smarty pants and with that intelligence she likes to see what she can get away with. If you tell her to not do something she will actually look you dead in the face and give you a little "boof" of disapproval like she's a rebellious teen telling you they don't like to be told what to do. It's quite hilarious and adorable! Miss Munchkin kennels like a dream at night by our bedside and sleeps the whole night without a peep. She is a complex little nut when kenneling for the day though as she goes right in without fuss but does have urinary accidents in her kennel when we are away from the home. It seems to be a form of separation anxiety as she doesn't display this behavior at night and doesn’t go potty anywhere else in the house. Also, by the time we get home she is pretty barky. We've tried many things without much help so her adoptive home will need to be very patient and understanding of this and help her work through the stress she experiences when her family leaves for the day. She has been very friendly with our dog but a little too friendly with our cat (would love to chase her) so ideally no cats in her forever home or a VERY dog savvy cat and owners who understand how to do proper and sloooow intros. She would love a dog buddy to play with! She’s not great at knowing when a dog is just not that into her though so a home with dogs who have her same zest for playing would be best. Munchkin can be a chatty Kathy, especially when kenneled during the day, so an apartment setting is not ideal for her. Munchkin loves her walks and has been doing pretty well with her leash manners! We’re working on her excitement when she sees bunnies and rabbits and also passing other dogs on walks. She can get just a little excited but is redirecting well with treats! Have I mentioned she’s wicked smart?! She knows sit, stand, down, shake, and high five and we’re working on more! Munchkin has done well with all the people she has met and honestly draws a crowd wherever she goes because she’s just that stinking adorable. A super kind and generous volunteer got Munchkin DNA tested and she’s the perfect mix of pitbull, boxer and bulldog and I see all of these breed traits in her! She’s sensitive like a pitbull, sassy and playful like a boxer, and hilariously stubborn like a bulldog! Since you’ve gotten this far in her lengthy bio I can tell you’re pretty interested! If you sound like her perfect match and are willing to be her patient forever home, I encourage you to fill out an adoption application for her! Munchkin is a special gem and although she’s not the perfect fit for every home, she will go fast and be some lucky family’s dream dog.   3/15/24 Foster Feedback: Meet Munchkin, a ray of sunshine on four legs! Munchkin is a sweet and affectionate girl with lots of love to give. This girl is as smart as she is sweet and is eager to learn new tricks and commands. Munchkin has been with us for a week and has settled in nicely. She is very treat motivated and knows sit, down, stay, paw, and possibly more!   She walks very nicely on a leash and loves to sniff as she goes and has great recall when on a long lead. She sleeps soundly all night in her kennel in our bedroom but will also snuggle with you like a pro. She kennels well when we are away but has also lounged on her dog bed when just my son was home from school for the day with no issues.   Munchkin gets along great with our medium sized dog. She gets very excited and wants to play when she is around our small senior dogs who just want to sleep all day (1 deaf and 1 tripod both 10lbs) so we have just been keeping a close eye on them and using gates when we can’t.  She has not been cat tested. She goes potty every time she is let out. Above all, Munchkin is searching for a family who will cherish her and give her the love and stability she deserves. Could you be the one to give Munchkin the forever home she's been dreaming of? Come meet her today and find out!To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org July 13, 2024, 1:28 pm

She did such a great job on the hour long car ride home and all rides since. As others have said, she knows sit, stay, lay down, shake, high five, and roll over. We’re working on drop, touch, and I’ve also noticed after walks in the wet grass or snow that if you tell her to wipe her feet when she walks in, she will go stand on the rug and sometimes spin around a couple times. Otherwise she will sit nicely on the rug until her harness is off. Percy is the greatest roommate and will make the perfect permanent addition to someone’s family. As I’ve gotten to know Percy I think she would do best in a household where she is the only pet and has a big yard to run and play fetch. She gets pretty excited when she sees other dogs, so a current dog would need to match Percy’s energy level while they’re together. No cats for Percy. Percy has loved any human that has come to our home, and walking by the neighbor kids outside doesn’t phase her. Percy does well in a kennel. I do keep her kenneled for a few hours in the morning while I’m at work. Otherwise I leave her out and she has free rein of the house and she does just fine. Percy has slept in her kennel overnight and doesn’t make a peep. She also sleeps in my bed and I barely know she’s there. Percy enjoys her squeaky toys. We found one that she can’t seem to destroy! She likes frozen Kongs and Pupsicles, as well as a nice tug-of-war competition, and tennis ball fetch. I also got her a few enrichment feeders/toys that she’s currently learning how to use. Percy will get the zoomies for a few minutes each night but is pretty relaxed and the cuddliest pup otherwise. We’re currently working on Percy’s leash walking. I’ve seen great improvement in the last two months as Percy isn’t as reactive to other animals and doesn’t pull nearly as much. It seems she will pull until she finds a spot to potty and then relaxes, so I’ve noticed if I keep her in my yard until she goes potty the walk is more enjoyable for all. She’s well on her way to being the best leash walker. Percy is a wonderful dog, very smart, extremely cute, and will make the best addition to a lucky individual or family!  9/6/23 Foster Feedback: Percy is doing well with training! She knows sit, stay, shake, touch, down, leave it and find it. She is very eager to please her people and learn new things and loves the snacks that go along with training sessions. She is still learning off (jumping up) and leash manners. Percy still has her puppy energy but has settled in well! She enjoys having structure and goes into her crate without any issues. She sleeps in her crate all night without any fuss. She has quite the personality! She loves running laps in the backyard with a toy and gets an occasional case of the zoomies! Percy shows interest in kids while we go for walks in the neighborhood, so I’m sure she would love some kids or another active dog sibling to play with in her forever home. She enjoys as many walks as she can get! Percy really is a sweet girl and deserves a loving family she can grow old with! She likes following her humans around the house and doesn’t want to miss out on anything. She will snuggle up on your lap for as long as you let her. This girl is ready to show you her personality 7/5/23 Foster Feedback: Persephone loves people! Doesn’t want to miss out on what her humans are doing! The recent fireworks did not seem to phase her. She is highly entertained by toys and tennis balls and can typically entertain herself with them; however we do play fetch in the backyard a few times a day. Persephone likes to cuddle up beside us on the couch or in our laps. She knows her name and basic commands and is also house trained. She is crate trained and does very well in there. Goes to bed without making a noise! Percy is dog-reactive when on walks. She can be redirected with treats but will need continued training on this. She wants to play with our resident dogs but being they are older they don’t have the same energy as her, she takes the hint they don’t want to play. So it seems that she can get along with other dogs, but with slow introductions in a setting where she can feel confident (hint: try introducing her to the other dog's owner first, then going for a walk with the dog and owner as a group). Older/considerate children would be recommended with her energy, as well as a home with a fenced yard or active family for running around.  6/5/23 Foster Feedback: Persephone is a sweet and playful girl that loves to cuddle and play fetch as much as you'll allow! She would be best in a non-apartment environment, due to her still working on being a bit reactive to other dogs, and loving lots of space to move around and play. She is ok with other dogs as long as they are submissive in nature. She is crate trained, potty trained, and is a turning into a great listener. Persephone would love a lively home that would give her lots of love and attention! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org July 13, 2024, 1:28 pm

Story
Intake Date: 10 June 2024 -------- Age at Intake: est 1.5-2 yrs ----- Breed: Pitbull ----- Size: 60 lbs ----- Status: Pound Pull, found astray ----- Compatible with: Dogs, children. ----- Suitable for: home with a fenced yard, Possible apartment with dog park ----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: None Noted ----- Additional Notes: Welcome Hank! What a handsome meatball. Hank was found astray by a family and they thought they had a home for him but he turned out not to be cat compatible so they took him to the pound. When his time expired and he was one of four about to be euthanized, we pulled him into rescue for a second chance. The pound staff said he is a total mushbucket. Just a lover. He adores everyone he meets and seems good with other dogs. Just not the feline persuasion. So a cat free home and this boy is golden. He rides so nice in the car and takes treats nicely. He really is a nice guy. We don't typically intake pitbulls due to the difficulty with placement as many landlords have them as a banned breed but we couldn't stop thinking about Hank. We hope he doesnt sit in rescue forever and a family snatches him up quickly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If interested in meeting and potentially adopting please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption is finalized at that time. Adoption fee is $175 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are not guaranteed but often a best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. If a yard is present, a secure fence is required.
