Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location: West Columbia, SC Name: Angel Age: 4 years Breed: Pit/shepherd mix - 57 lbs M/F: F Spayed/Neutered/Shots: UTD on rabies and dhpp, heartworm negative and UTD on prevention, spayed Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: Good with other dogs of all sizes and children. She isn’t a jumper which works very well for children. She seems to ignore my grown cats but tries to pick up small kittens and carry them around (doesn’t seem to be trying to hurt them) but I keep her separated just to be safe. Can get annoyed with the more energetic dogs. Aggression or medical issues?: flea allergy so have to keep her on prevention during warmer. Nub tail from previous life injuries that will flare up if flea allergies present and get raw again from her licking so again… flea prevention. months - Has been involved with a fight she didn’t want to be in and she tried to hold her own but gave up and simply laid down while I got the other off. She was raised with chiweenies and had 0 clue what to do in that situation. She thinks she is a small dog couch potato (other dog I learned is not good around any other female pit mixes and she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time). Reason for rehoming?: owner moved and left her behind in a crate House/crate trained?: yes but doesn’t have to be crated as she doesn’t mess with anything in the house. Additional info/story (personality): Very sweet and loves to cuddle and get pets. She is more in her “laid back” era and more focused on pets and attention than playing with the others. When I get home and let her out her crate she greets me and then goes outside to potty and maybe hangs out 5-10 min before she’s back inside ready to hang out on the couch and cuddle. She also is really not bright for lack of better words (training her commands is extremely difficult). Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home.

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
He’s a very sweet boy with no sense of personal space and loves giving kisses and cuddles. He cannot be trained like a regular dog because he does not understand positive or negative reinforcement, only consistency. He has good and bad days. Sometimes he can be walked on a leash; sometimes he can’t so he has to go to a home with a FENCED IN YARD. When he is very excited, he is a jumper. I have tried everything possible to get him to stop but he just does not understand (although he doesn’t do it as much as he used to so hopefully he will grow out of it). He also functions a billion times better when other dogs are in the home so he must go to a home with OTHER DOGS. His crate and the couch are his safe places. When he is stressed, he has to have access to his crate because that is his safe place (either enclosed or metal with a cover around it). I can’t shortly explain him in full, so if anyone is genuinely interested, please reach out and we can discuss more. When I say he is nonfunctional off medication I mean he refused to leave his crate, would use the bathroom on himself, and barely eat because he was so terrified of everything. His meds completely changed his life and they aren’t negotiable in any part of his future. Message/comment if interested.

Story
Location: Lexington, SC Name: Baby Age: 2 years Breed: Pit Mix - 50 lbs M/F: F Spayed/Neutered/Shots: UTD on rabies & dhpp; heartworm negative & UTD on prevention; spayed Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: extremely human submissive and loves children; Not good with other female pits or dogs under 25 lbs - good with literally all other dogs and is always around other kinds with no other problems; can cat test upon request but doubt she would be good with them due to her not being good with smaller dogs Aggression or medical issues?: no known medical issues; as stated above, NOT good with other female pits or dogs under 25 lbs (nothing directly bad has happened with dogs under 25 lbs but reactivity clearly seen through crate and has never been formally tested for safety reasons - full reactivity has happened with other female pits so access is 100% removed at all times and she has had no further issues with any other dogs or breeds for almost a year now). Is even housed with a very alpha male at the moment with no issues. Reason for rehoming?: dumped at a nursing home and was contacted to pick up Would you like rescue help?: no - already with one House/crate trained?: yes! Additional info/story (personality): Walks extremely well on a leash and is very friendly. Medium energy and does still occasionally jump when I first arrive home. Huge love bug and loves to cuddle. Very very human submissive and the next door neighbors kids are who helped me name her and get her out of her shell originally. Due to her personality and specific reactivities… I’m sure you can assume type of situation she came from. As long as you work with her boundaries, there are no problems in the slightest and she gives us all her loving all the time. PS: LOVES couch naps. Would also do fine as only animal in the home, but not a requirement. Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home.

Story
STILL OVER CAPACITY and Esme is officially the main long-timer here. She was here before we were 501c3 official, and our 2nd dog intake ever back in 2021. She was adopted for ~6 months and returned back in March due to what I would say was no fault of her own as it was a very clearly stated potential issue that was warned about before adoption and reiterated after adoption when the situation in the home changed. The adoptees were still extremely upset about returning her, but decided they had to.... I can give more context but not going to type a book on her post. Long story short, it's been almost 3 years now, and she is still looking for her permanent furever home! *special needs - tripaw* Location: Lexington, SC Name: Esme Age: 3.5 years Breed: Lab/pit/mix (DNA Tested) - 60 lbs but overweight and should only be around 50 lbs M/F: F Spayed/Neutered/Shots: spayed; UTD on rabies, dhlpp, & bordetella; heartworm negative and UTD on prevetion Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: good with all humans and has been around toddlers as well, good with dogs except severely alpha dogs (every incident so far has been with a female pit that came onto her - she defended herself and does it very well). Has been around 100’s of other dogs with no issues including dog parks and doggy daycares, she simply won’t tolerate being bullied or messed with. NOT good with cats (even my most dog friendly cats, she doesn’t try to hurt them, but she doesn’t understand her size and wants to play and is simply too much for them) Aggression or medical issues?: TRIPAW (3 legs - missing rear right leg) and gets daily joint supplements to prevent arthrtitis. Does not affect daily life and most don’t notice she is missing a leg because she acts so “normal”. Only further assistance she needs is getting in/out high vehicles. Also can only swim in circles but does like water. For aggression, she will never start anything, but she will finish it so you must make sure the dogs she are with will not push buttons. House/crate trained?: yes - needs to be crated when left alone Additional info/story (personality): VERY cuddly. Will stay close by without a leash once she learns area and homeowner when you take her outside. Will demand to be let back inside if you leave her out there too long cause she likes to be a lazy couch potato a good chunk of the time. Does snore. Does have a big and funny attitude and is very talkative. Super chewer and will need heavy duty toys. She will not chew on stuff she shouldn’t chew on unless she doesn’t have anything appropriate to chew on. She just loves chewing. Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home.

Had very well-tempered parents. Aggression or medical issues?: none House/crate trained?: have not attempted crate training but doing well in kennel; working on potty training and doing well as long as I let him out often enough. Additional info/story (personality): All are extremely friendly and quite smart. Does have a lot of energy and does jump when excited which we are working on. Shemostly does it for attention but he realizes at this point he won't get it if jumping so is sitting more quickly now and then gets pets in return. Is a very happy girl and did very well on car rides and on the leash. Message/comment if interested. This beautiful pit mix is Rebecca! She came to us from a local shelter and is estimated to be around 2 years old. She is absolutely gorgeous, with a stunning black coat and a beautiful brindle pattern along her back. Rebecca is a sweet girl who simply just loves being around people. If you are hanging out on the couch, Rebecca promises to be right there with you! She is a girl that absolutely loves playing with toys, especially squeaky toys. She is a medium energy pup, so she loves to play and be active, but after a nice long walk, she is happy to settle into the comfiest bed you can find! Rebecca walks great on a leash, and is mastering her household manners. She is working on mastering her basic commands. She is very food motivated, and she loves all treats! Rebecca loves to play with other dogs! She gets very excited to play and can sometimes play with a little too much energy. She would do best in a home with other dogs who would welcome her excited playing style, or as a solo pup! Story
This sweet squish is Ellie, an 11 month old pittie mix girl who came to us from a local shelter. Ellie is fully house trained, crate trained, and knows some basic commands. She has spent lots of time in a foster home learning what it means to be a good girl! She LOVES children and is a bit scared of cats but with time and training she would be fantastic with them as well! Ellie gets nervous around other dogs at first, but a proper introduction will allow for Ellie to gain confidence and be friendly with other dogs. Ellie is playful, affectionate, puppy-like, and a total lap dog, and she LOVES balls! She could play fetch all day. Ellie absolutely loves to be outside and she always needs something in her mouth whether it be a ball or toy. She has super fun and playful energy, but after she runs for a little while she is a cuddle bug and puts herself in bed at night. Ellie is an all around great pup who is ready to find her perfect home! We promised Ellie that the rest of her life, would be the best of her life. Meet Charlie, and adorable 2 year old pup who was surrendered to our rescue due to no fault of his own. Charlie is a happy, friendly and loving boy. He is super friendly with all people and with other dogs. Charlie enjoys playing with toys (he thoroughly enjoys tearing apart fluffy toys) and eating yummy snacks. He loves to play fetch and run around in a yard! He is super loving and loyal, when he settles down after a day of play he is affectionate and loving. Charlie has a strong prey drive, so he would be best suited for a home without cats or small animals. Charlie is working on his household manners and is a smart boy!
