~~THIS IS A COURTESY POST. THIS DOG IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT samantha.r.muljat@gmail.com   THANK YOU~~ Phoebe is a 6 year old Heeler/Pittie mix. Shy at first when meeting new people, she is a spunky, athletic girl who is super affectionate and loves to snuggle/pretzel herself around her owner at night. She is super soft, so cuddling with her is one of my biggest joys. She would be best suited for someone with an already active lifestyle. She is an excellent hiking/running partner. She gets nervous around loud noises, so a busy city apartment, or an environment with loud machinery would not benefit her. She would also have to be an only pet and can’t be around small children. She is great off-leash and has a good recall. She sometimes does this thing where she “scouts” the area in front of you to make sure it’s safe. She’s smart and funny and loves goofing around with her owner on the carpet. She also loves her “Chuck-it” and playing fetch. However, she is not good playing with dogs at the dog park, gets nervous and protective of her toys. No problem greeting other dogs on hikes. Phoebe is an incredibly well-mannered dog. She does not chew, beg for food, rarely barks or jumps up on people. All of Phoebe’s vaccines are up to date. She is spayed. She is house-trained. She weighs about 45lbs. ##2006754##

Story
Meet Veena! If you’re looking for a mellow and sweet k-9 companion, you’ve found her! Veena is a 10 month old American Pit bull mix who looks and acts more like a tiny St Bernard. This puppy is kinda lazy at home, and very much a love bug. She flops over for belly rubs and gives lots of kisses. Veena loves to be where her people are and is always ready to go… even if it seems like all she wants to do is nap on the sofa! She loves to hike, especially to a fresh water source where she can get her feet wet. Playing ball, drinking water from the hose and napping are her favorite activities.  Veena is loved by the staff where she attends daycare 3 days a week, and plays very well with other dogs.  She learns quickly and shows much potential. She knows basic commands, like sit, lay down, come, no, and has been enrolled in obedience classes so she can learn even more! Veena is crate trained, house/potty trained, and rides well in the car. Veena is 59 pounds, up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She has little exposure to cats and they intimidate her, but she seems okay with them. Veena has not been around children much and is still a puppy, so we recommend dog saavy children. To fall in love with Veena, please fill out a statement of interest at alternativehumanesociety.com/statement-of-interest-dog and come meet this cutie pie! ##2091519##

~~THIS IS A COURTESY POST. THIS DOES IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT josiahtugman@hotmail.com  THANK YOU ~~ Pete absolutely comes alive when his dad comes home. He explodes off of the couch and transforms into a 75 pound super happy wiggle-butt. I’m jealous of this level of affection from Pete. We’ve made a lot of progress together but there’s still a long way to go. I’m writing from the vantage of only having met Pete less than two weeks ago. When I first met Pete, he was glued to a specific couch and would emit a low growl when I approached. Pete was adopted when he was 8 weeks old and while his dad adored him, another housemate wasn’t very nice to him. Pete is almost 3 years old now and displays all of the behavioral cues indicative of a shy and anxious dog: a tucked tail, stiff body language, an unwillingness to accept treats from strangers, and he will flinch when you first start to pet him. Within a week of being around me, and about 200 slices of pepperoni later, Pete and I can sit on that same couch together, I can take him out on walks and he can accept being pet without flinching as dramatically as before. Pete’s dad has transitioned into a new life and career phase and would rather see Pete happy with someone who simply has more time for him; someone whose work schedule doesn’t revolve around 12 hour shifts. An ideal match for Pete is someone with a lot of patience who also enjoys the great outdoors. Pete has been going out on mountain bike rides and hikes since he was 11 months old. Pete is a great trail dog as he has a good recall. He exhibits a placid indifference when meeting other dogs out on the trail. Pete is house trained, up-to-date on all vaccinations, fixed and is not taking any meds but does appear to have chicken allergies. He is great on or off-leash when meeting new dogs and people, but will act skittish if a stranger tries to engage with him. Because of Pete’s nervousness around strangers, it is best that he lives in a house with adults only or young adults who can appropriately read his body language.    Pete off leash meeting an on leash dog https://www.youtube.com/shorts/asiXCMBl7dc Pete on leash meeting an off leash dog https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LUkZedrJAw0 Pete as a trail dog https://www.instagram.com/reel/CrIP8UHrcAj/?igsh=ZWpjZ3hlbzNlcjJr Pete greeting his dad https://www.youtube.com/shorts/j4aXWGfc8yc  ##2110730##

~~THIS IS A COURTESY POST. THIS DOG IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. ALL INQUIRIES SHOULD BE SENT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT kendallfox4@gmail.com    THANK YOU!! ~~ Meet Ruger, a lovable and playful companion who is ready to find his forever home! Ruger will be four years old in October and is great with both dogs and kids, making him a perfect addition to any family. Ruger's affectionate nature shines through in his interactions, as he loves to be around people and other dogs. However, he does have some separation anxiety and will need a family that can provide him with the support and attention he needs. Ruger weighs around 70 pounds and is potty trained, but his anxiety can sometimes lead to accidents if he is left by himself for too long. Additionally, he could use some training on the leash and with jumping, as he gets very excited. Ruger is also microchipped for added peace of mind. He is due for an annual exam as well as leptospirosis and bordetella vaccines. Ruger's behavior around cats is unknown, so a careful introduction would be necessary if you have feline friends. With a little patience and understanding, Ruger will be the most loyal and loving friend you could ask for. If you are looking for a devoted companion who will fill your days with joy and affection, Ruger is the perfect dog for you. Please note that Ruger is not in the care of the Alternative Humane Society. Any inquiries should be emailed to kendallfox4@gmail.com. Give this sweet boy the loving home he deserves! ##2133400##

Meet Remy! A face everyone can LOVE! Literally, it is soooo squishy and then that smile. Can you already tell we are a little bit obsessed?! Smart, potty trained, crate trained, dog friendly, INSANELY cuddly and squishy! Remy is truly a special boy with a love for the ladies! He is trying to get to a ladies exclusive Pride event before the month is over! Don’t get me wrong though, Remy is a ladies man but he hasn’t written men off- he enjoys his male humans too! He just needs slow introductions and time to warm up. He needs time to slowly check them out, see what they are about, and then he’ll be your BFF and instant playmate. This boy is truly a loyal king! He is ready for furever and will roll, slip, and slide to get your attention, then hit you with the brown puppy-dog eyes to seal the deal! Sure he snores but its easy to ignore when he has so many other great qualities. Plus, he will always say yes to a coffee date as long as you are buying. His order never changes- one pup cup! Please and thank you! Remy is a 3LP favorite- from staff to volunteers, every person he meets falls head over heals or him. He may win the award for most Doggy-Day-Outs! He is consistently the chosen one, which is where he acquired a taste for Pup Cups and car rides. See him through the eyes of all us Remy lovers in his “dating profile introduction.” This hunk would prefer a home with no cats. Well, if I am honest- he would LOVE a home with cats- they are sooo fun to chase if you ask him. Us, we know that it causes chaos and makes any cat out there upset and we don’t want that for anyone! Remy may only want to play but cats think differently. This boy isn’t only good looks and good taste, he is smart too! He has learned to sit, stay, and his foster mom shared he is house trained! He loves to play fetch and his favorite toy is anything that squeaks.Plus, he is very treat motivated so continued training should be a piece of cake! Looks, manners, teachable… an actual dream man! Saint Remy is also great on leash and rides well in the car so he is ready for walks and hikes anywhere you want to go! Be warned though, he does try to sneak kisses while you drive, he isn’t pushy, just wants you to know he loves you for driving and how much he enjoys spending time with you. He would love a fenced in yard where he can roam and fetch a ball! Even if it’s just him tossing the ball to himself! Which, yes, he does! We believe Remy would do well in a home with another dog that matches his energy and doesn’t mind the classic bully breed approach to play. He is absolutely up for being your one and only though, he has the love and adoration of 5 dogs in him to give and is ready to soak up all the attention and adventures he can to make up for “lost-time.” He has lived with large males both playful and more calm. He loves to romp around and share his toys and has always been the submissive one of the bunch. So much so that he is what we call an Assessment dog. This is basically a gold star in the 3LP world, a dog that is predictable and consistent, used to gauge in-coming dogs personality towards other dogs. Inviting if they were friendly, neutral if they were unsure, aloof and avoidant if the dog shows signs of being aggressive. Remy has helped save hundreds of dogs by being such a stable, non-conflict dog. He carved out a huge space in the heart of everyone at the rescue because he is a dogs-dog on top of all that charm. He isn’t a vocal boy so living in a condo/townhome environment would be fine as long as he receives plenty of toys and gets that much needed time to bask in the sun and daily walks (more like strolls). Ready to adopt Remy? Here is his adoption application https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/64bfd6afb059e6bf0609a46f Questions? Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! In addition to a fully vetted furbaby, you also receive many other additional perks such as a 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.), a free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus incredibly low pricing for future sessions, 50% off of your first BarkBox order, coupons for a fun visit to Petco, and support through our FB Adopter group where you can connect with thousands of other adopters, 3LP volunteers, fosters and staff. The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives. They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! Three Little Pitties Rescue will soon be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program. Together, we can be heroes.
