Story
Meet Birch, a five and a half year old male Pit Bull mix.Birch got his name because he was dumped at the shelter location on Birchfield road. When staff was out feeding the feral lot cats, Birch limped right up for pets. He didn't seem to mind the cats and showed zero interest in chasing them at that time. Once Birch got some attention he followed shelter staff straight in the back door. Birch is a very handsome boy with a solid 65 pound build. His history is unknown but he was limping when he was found and has a scar on one leg too. Birch is a happy boy and very strong on the leash so leash manners would be good for him to learn. He is extremely food motivated and training should be pretty easy because of it, he already knows "sit", "shake", and "down". Birch has been with us since October 2023 so when he first gets out he has a good amount of energy, but give him a 5-10 minute walk and he will settle in for some good pets and belly rubs. Birch loves human attention and is hoping to find a home to call his own that has lots of love and treats! If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
This is a courtesy post. Please contact Cheryl at 509 899 4902 or Shoey6811@gmail.com Rhaela was born on 8/10/2020. She weighs 90# Breed is an unusual mix Pitty/German wirehaired, which makes for an interesting looking, fun dog. She loves to play fetch with her Kongo ball. She has been around other same size dogs since the beginning also we have an indoor outdoor cat which they have a weird love relationship inside they groom each other and cuddle and the chase game is on when they are outside. Rhaela's hunter instincts are very strong.. we have a fenced in yard and while outside and someone is walking there smaller dogs by She tends to get overly excited and her listening skills shut down...so I cannot say how she would be around smaller dogs. She has been around my grandbabies from their birth until now which they are toddling around at 15 and 18 months old ..and loves to keep their hands, toes and faces clean.. The owner to Rhaela's parents keeps all of us in a chat group so if any interested new furbaby parents want to know more about the breeds and back ground temperament we can hook them up with that. This is a courtesy post. Please contact Cheryl at 509 899 4902 or Shoey6811@gmail.com
