Story
Meet Papas, an almost one year old Pit/Husky mix.Papas was brought to us by animal control with Squeaks and Baby, they do well together but if you have another dog we recommend bringing them down for a meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along. Papas has met another dog since being with us and this boy wanted to play right away, he is so cute! Papas weighs just over 42 pounds and is still very much a puppy. This goober enjoys his treats so he should be fairly easy to train. He just needs someone to show him the rules and the ropes. He is at the perfect age with the perfect personality to polish up into a fantastic dog. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.  If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT??That’s where you and the pet make sure you’re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption. Story
Meet Baby, an almost one year old male Pit Bull mix weighing a little over 60 pounds. Baby is a friendly guy who was brought to us by Animal Control with Squeaks and Papas. They get along well together and we think all of them could be adopted to a home with another dog but we always recommend a meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along. Baby has met a new dog since he came to us and did fantastic, he just wanted to play and be a goober. We think he would do great in a home with another dog that wants a play partner. Baby is a friendly boy who walks pretty good on a leash and is just happy to be around you. He is greatly motivated and with the perfect temperament he will be a fantastic dog with just a bit of basic training to polish him off. Story
Meet Baby Cow, a four year old Pit mix. Baby Cow was brought to us very skinny and dehydrated, only weighing 37 pounds. He also has sores on his legs so it is clear he has had it rough recently, but we are determined that will all change! Baby Cow is a sweet boy who has met two other dogs since coming to us and done well, one small dog and one large dog. He walks well on leash with a couple corrections and responds well to those corrections. We think he is a fantastic dog but you will just have to meet him yourself. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.  If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT? Story
Meet Hugo, a two-year-old Pit/Husky weighing almost 70 pounds.Hugo was found running as a stray, his finder wasn`t able to keep up but did tell us he did great with other dogs, but his personal dogs were not appreciative of him trying to play with them as they were much smaller than him. He does great in the car as well and is working on his crate training as he does get a little anxious when left alone. The finder said he was pretty chill with him but since coming to us he is understandably a bit unsure and skittish; the shelter life can be very overwhelming. He is working on his leash training but does check in with you for reassurance. He is just looking for someone to take him under their wing and show him the ropes. This pet is available for adoption on 12/22/2024 at 10:09 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Keesha, a three year old Pit mix weighing around 60 pounds.Keesha was brought to us by animal control after she was found running around. She was a little shy/skittish when she came in to us but is warming up quickly. Keesha still isn`t too sure about quick movements but is curious about the squeaky toy. Keesha doesn`t like being in our kennels, but who does?! She just needs someone to provide her with a bit of patience and stability and we are sure she will blossom. Story
Oliver was surrendered to us in September of 2023, so he ahs bene with us for a year and a half. He is a sweetie but needs to be kenneled when not supervised. He is kennel trained, he knows sit, off, and has a good recall. He has to be introduced slowly and intentionally to other dogs, he was raised arounds kids and his previous owner said he got along with them, but it has been awhile since he has been around any, I would imagine he would do well. Does not like rain or snow but will go out briefly. Please do not judge for breed, he is sweet and does not deserve the reputation.

The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is lifesaving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Bella, a nine year old Boxer mix weighing 89 pounds.Bella was owner surrendered to us due to the health of her owner. It is always sad to see a senior come onto the shelter and Bella is no exception. We are looking for a home that will love Bella for the rest of her days. Bella would benefit from loosing some weight so if you enjoy going on some easy walks then Bella might be your girl. She has some old lady lumps and bumps but this girl still has plenty of pep in her step. Bella is laid back and well mannered. The family of her owner says she is potty trained. Bella has the sweetest sugar muzzle and deserves only the best.
