Story
Lucy is a beautiful adult American Staffordshire Terrier & Pitbull Terrier mix (born 2021).   She's a very good dog who's housebroken, knows some commands and is happy to be around other dogs.  She friendly with strangers and children of all ages.  She is crate trained and tends to get in trouble if left in the house alone, but she will willingly go in her kennel if you make that her routine.    Lucy likes lots of attention.  She needs someone or people with time and energy to focus on her.  A good home for Lucy will also have a fenced in yard so she can get plenty of exercise. The suggested adoption donation for Lucy is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Before applying to adopt Lucy, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2303962##

We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. Story
Have dog experience and like adorable yet quirky? That’s our Mia! Mia adores her people and her furry foster siblings. If you love bully breeds and a fun personality, this 1.5 year old 52 pound girl is just for you! Mia was originally a stray and then in a high kill shelter in OK when an animal welfare advocate decided she deserved a second chance to know life and love, so she made her way to Haven Animal Rescue Nebraska in Omaha. Although she has lived with children in her foster home and loves them, we prefer no children in the resident home as she does get the zoomies and may knock them down inadvertently. In addition, we’d prefer dog savvy adopters that understand dog body language. When she wants alone time like a girl does sometimes, she will let you know. Kind of like a moody girlfriend... Mia has lived with dogs from 35 pounds to over 150 pounds and has done great with all of them. She listens to dog cues and expects the same of them and to not get in her face. She does need a proper introduction with a nice long butt-sniff session. If you have a resident dog that doesn’t appreciate that, Mia is not for you. She absolutely adores her people, loves her chew bones and running around the yard, so she MUST go to a home with a fenced in backyard to get her hilarious zoomies out. She is crate and potty trained. Mia is also very smart, redirects easily and loves to learn. Spending time with her while working on tricks and commands is a great bonding experience! This girl loves love and wants to be your best friend and lap dog. Just remember when she walks away, she wants down time, especially at night when she’s tired; however,  just respect her space and worth all she loves she will give her you could want in a best friend! Mia is spayed, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, inside only and ready to find her BFF! Please apply at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org ADOPTION DONATION: $325  PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! January 7, 2025, 2:40 am
