Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.  Meet Letty! She is an 18 month old bully girl that is just now getting to learn the world, and let’s face it, that’s both fun and scary!  Letty was surrendered to T.A.R.A after a rough start, but it hasn’t phased her a bit and she loves people and other dogs, although her rough play style can be intimidating to some. She also previously lived in a home with kids which she would love to do again!  This girl has a heart of GOLD and absolutely adores everyone! Letty is still learning about the world around her, so she is still a bit timid of everyday things like leashes and stairs, startling noises, and people who don’t keep dogs inside! Ideally Letty would find a home with a dog savvy individual, couple or family, who gives her love and training, so she knows what she is supposed to do with her young self! We know with the right family she will blossom into an amazing companion, who would love a spot on your sofa, and in your heart.  Come  meet Letty, and give her an opportunity to live the good life with you!     Approximate Birthdate:  Jan 2023 Adoption Fee: $200 TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. We show our dogs by appointment only upon an approved adoption application. If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications for Tiana.  OUR ONLINE APPLICATION CAN BE FOUND AT KCPAWS.ORG or click this link: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 Meet Tiana! She is around 3-4 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. A good medium sized dog. We are so grateful we were able to get her out in time. She was so excited to come here and has been nothing but sweet to all of our staff and volunteers. Tiana is very affectionate and loves to have her wiggly butt scratched! She also loves to play in water.   Tiana, unfortunately does have some medical special needs. We took her to the vet for a third time as we had been trying to determine why she has over the last few months been prone to UTIs. After multiple test, and medication trails, it has been discovered that she has stage 2 kidney disease. Tiana came to us all the way from Texas, she had been dumped on a rural highway and left behind by her owner, she ended up at a high kill shelter and simply because she was a black pit bull, and as we know black pit bulls are the hardest dogs to find homes for, she was scheduled to be euthanized for space. I saw her sweet face on a Facebook post from the city shelter and pulled her immediately. A few days later, she was on the road to KC and to us. Cut to a year of her being at our shelter, she finds a home that I thought was going to be the best thing ever. I did her home visit, the family and home were so nice, the adopter asked great questions and kept in contact with me for a while, sending pictures and telling me how great she was. One year later, she gets brought into boarding while her adopter is out of town... and they don't come back for her. And we find that she has been having issues urinating, but her adopter hadn't taken her to the vet. So here she is again, in the shelter, I can only assume because she was having accidents, and her kidneys are failing her. Even with everything she's been through, and everything she's currently going through, she is the happiest girl. She gives everyone she meets big hugs and kisses and will do anything to get a little extra snuggle time. She is happy and loves to go for walks. Still, she is here, without a home of her own. Tiana loves people and would be great in a home with kids, however we have not had any cats around since having her so we would have to introduce her to any cats that may be in the home before we could say for sure if she would be okay with them. Tiana can be protective of her people at times, so it is important that she is in a home with owners that are committed to keeping he well socialized.  Tiana gets a long with many dogs but there have been a few that she has not meshed well with, she prefers chill, not so in your face playmates. But she would be perfectly happy to be an only dog and get all of the attention.  Much like their feline counterparts, black dogs find it difficult when it comes to adoption. Particularly larger black dogs – they are often left forgotten in what many shelter works call black dog syndrome. Basically, black pets typically are passed over for dogs and cats with different colors or unique markings.  If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet girl who eager to please, willing to learn, and very sweet, please consider applying for Tiana!August 19, 2024, 12:37 pm

Legend is 5 years old, Spayed, Microchipped, and Up to date on vetting Adoption fee SPONSORED Legend is an incredibly sweet cuddle bug who loves to give kisses and hugs to her people and loves to go for walks! She is a sensitive soul who can be nervous around new people and new surroundings, she needs a confident owner who will help her overcome her fears and set expectations for her so that she can rely on structure to help with her nerves. Legend is potty trained and walks great on a leash and knows all of her basic commands. She gets along well with calm, respectful dogs, who will give her time to warm up. She does need slower intros with new dogs as she will be nervous at first. Legend would do best in a home with no small children, but is not aggressive towards kids, the loud noises and fast movements just make her nervous and she would be most comfortable in an adult only home or possibly teenage age kids rather than young children.  Legend is really the sweetest dog with a little patience and TLC, She just needs a little time to come out of her shell. Once she does, you'll never get her out of your lap!  August 19, 2024, 12:37 pm

Story
Hey there, I'm Turkey-gobble gobble! What a name, right? I'm a friendly, down-to-earth guy who loves hanging out with people, especially kids, and getting along famously with other dogs. My foster mom's farm is filled with all sorts of animals, and while I'm pretty chill with most of them, I've learned that cats just aren't my cup of tea. So, a forever home without any feline friends would be ideal for me! Toys and treats are my absolute favorite-I'll guard them a bit at first, but once I get to know everyone, I'm happy to share the fun. Speaking of fun, I'm a pro on a leash and have nailed both house and kennel training. Yep, I'm the whole package! Do you think you could give a a lovable goofball like me a forever home? I promise to bring lots of laughs, cuddles, and plenty of turkey-sized love to your family! Turkey's adoption fee is $200. This fee includes his vaccinations, heartworm test, microchip and neuter surgery. Apply to adopt this Turkey at www.lucky13rescue.org or https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog

Story
Daisy is a very sweet and loving girl. She takes some time to warm up to new people. She needs a home where she can be the only dog, though she doesn't mind cats. Daisy LOVES to play fetch and go on long walks. She has lots of energy but still loves to cuddle. She was born on 11/15/2017. We adopted her from Unleashed Pet Rescue. We have had her since she was 2 months old. We are not sure of her exact breed. We guess that she is an American Staffordshire mix.

These pups are in Raytown, Missouri too!

Story
Everyone’s always talking about work-life balance. Well, we wanna talk about dog-life balance. Kanga has that dog-life balance that we’re all striving for: she plays hard and does playtime up right, whether it’s with other dogs or people. She likes to play outside, and she likes to play inside, or wherever the good toys are. After that, she’ll find herself a quiet spot to snuggle up and catch some zzz’s and watch the world go by. In between, she’ll be a goofball and make you smile, and she’ll also let you dress her up and make your own fun. See what we mean about dog-life balance? Playing, snoozing, goofing around: She has it all, except for a place to call home. Kanga is a three-year-old, 55-lb. brindle beauty who wants to be forever your girl. She knows some basic commands and is house trained and crate trained. She’s a little shy for a few minutes, but she will make herself right at home and will be such good company. If you’re interested in adopting or fostering Kanga, please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. Kanga is in the Kansas City metro, but transport to the right home is available! #thepetconnection

Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. If you want a dog to snuggle, I’m your guy! I’d spend all day right next to you getting belly rubs if I could. Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around. I know sit, down, stay, high five, hug, orbit, between, wait, and I can even turn off the lights! Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in the hose, but my favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and I do amazing being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’m getting better on the leash all the time. I’d do best in a home with older children, because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I'm a young guy and weigh around 60 pounds, so I’m pretty much the perfect size! I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and *that* will make you happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the mere sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop
