Story
Do you need a “SUPER SNUGGLER” in your life? We’ve got your girl right here! Meet Anya! This 42-pound low rider loves her people! She’ll take a human lap over a dog bed any day! Anya is housebroken, takes treats with a soft mouth, knows sit and no, comes when called and truly LOVES her humans. This happy 1 ½ year old literally jumps for joy when she sees her people after an absence. So she may not be a good fit for small children, but she does love herself some obnoxious teenagers! Anya has learned not to chase her foster feline siblings and is on the verge of some kitty friendships. Anya loves her mellow foster brother but sometimes doesn’t appreciate her bossy, rough-and-tumble foster sister. Anya would do fine as an only doggo, too. That way she gets ALL the LOVE!! She adores the outdoors, likes to chill in the fenced backyard with her toys and a good stick, entertains herself with balls, enjoys cooling off with the hose in the summertime, and appreciates a good evening fire pit. Anya free roams while her foster Mom is at work but can also chill in a crate for short periods. She loves tumble feeders, kongs and other enrichment items to keep out of mischief during workdays. Anya sleeps with her foster Mom, 2 cats and doggy brother. She is a blanket hog though so be forewarned! Anya has quite the story. She was abandoned about a week before giving birth, by being tied to a street sign close to a local shelter. She was terrified. Once in foster, Anya had 12 beautiful puppies and was a great Mom. This resilient girl is now awaiting her own happily ever after. Anya does have some leftover trauma from such an anxiety-producing abandonment and currently takes medication. She is also working on leash manners and developing confidence through training with The Pet Connection. Anya will likely always need patience in new situations and slow introductions to new dogs. If you are looking for the ultimate cuddly companion and like happy endings, Anya is the girl for you! She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm preventions. Her adoption fee is $175. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info on Anya! She's in the Kansas City metro, but transport might be available to the right home. ❤️🤍❤️🤍❤️🤍❤️🤍💜🤍❤️🤍❤️🤍❤️🤍❤️🤍

Story
Legend is 5 years old, Spayed, Microchipped, and Up to date on vetting Adoption fee SPONSORED Legend is an incredibly sweet cuddle bug who loves to give kisses and hugs to her people and loves to go for walks! She is a sensitive soul who can be nervous around new people and new surroundings, she needs a confident owner who will help her overcome her fears and set expectations for her so that she can rely on structure to help with her nerves. Legend is potty trained and walks great on a leash and knows all of her basic commands. She gets along well with calm, respectful dogs, who will give her time to warm up. She does need slower intros with new dogs as she will be nervous at first. Legend would do best in a home with no small children, but is not aggressive towards kids, the loud noises and fast movements just make her nervous and she would be most comfortable in an adult only home or possibly teenage age kids rather than young children.  Legend is really the sweetest dog with a little patience and TLC, She just needs a little time to come out of her shell. Once she does, you'll never get her out of your lap!  October 28, 2024, 6:52 pm

Story
Hey there, I'm Turkey-gobble gobble! What a name, right? I'm a friendly 2 year old, down-to-earth guy who loves hanging out with people, especially kids, and getting along famously with other dogs. My foster mom's farm is filled with all sorts of animals, and while I'm pretty chill with most of them, I've learned that cats just aren't my cup of tea. So, a forever home without any feline friends would be ideal for me! Toys and treats are my absolute favorite-I'll guard them a bit at first, but once I get to know everyone, I'm happy to share the fun. Speaking of fun, I'm a pro on a leash and have nailed both house and kennel training. Yep, I'm the whole package! Do you think you could give a a lovable goofball like me a forever home? I promise to bring lots of laughs, cuddles, and plenty of turkey-sized love to your family! Turkey's adoption fee is $200. This fee includes his vaccinations, heartworm test, microchip and neuter surgery. Apply to adopt this Turkey at www.lucky13rescue.org or https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog

UPDATED BIODOB: 4/13/24                          Current Weight(as of 2/25): 45pds Adoption Fee: $200 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Fully Vaccinated! LEGO is in a foster home and this is their update! Lego is crate trained and  housebroken!! Lego is super smart and has learned the 'sit', 'stay', ' come'  commands.  He is really well behaved in the home. He is still going thru the chewing stage so we have plenty of appropriate things he can chew on.  Lego loves people and is a people pleaser. Lego would love going to obedience classes to continue his learning.  Lego is such a gorgeous pup.  We will get new pics of him posted as soon as we can.  Lego has turned into a well adjusted,  gentle,  sweet young pup looking for his forever family.  Lego came to us from the Nevada  Animal  shelter. He is a good looking puppy.  He has beautiful eyes. Lego loves other dogs and he loves playing with all sizes but the little ones..... under 20pds can sometimes be overwhelmed with his playfulness. He would be a great playmate for a medium or large size dog.  Lego loves water! He has to put his paws in the water dish if not watched.  We have a kid size plastic pool that he loves to play in.  Lego will do great with most any family. Lego definitely sounds more like a hound when he barks! Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Her foster mom says she is house and crate trained.  She will whine to let you know she needs to go out. Darla has loved playing with the dogs in her foster home because they are all even tempered like her. The dogs that are bossy and dominant she does not like. Darla loves to play tag, tug and chase with her furry friends.  The yard she plays in has a 4'  chain link fence and she has never tried to get out or over it.  She will sometimes play fetch unless the ball or toy interest her more then returning it... LOL. Darla has been working on walking on leash wearing a harness,  which we include with her adoption, plus her collar and leash.     I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Will and his siblings were born in July, 2023.  He is fostered with dogs and cats. He’s puppy rowdy, very smart and treat motivated. His mom and dad were about 40lbs so he should stay on the smaller side. This little guy is sweet and cuddly. October 14, 2024, 4:43 pm

Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. I'm a four-year-old boxer mix boy and kind of a beefcake at around 80 pounds. (I'd argue that it's all muscle, too.) One of the things I want most in a forever home is a human friend to hang out with, not doing anything in particular, just a couple pals spending time together. Wouldn't that be amazing? I'm a little shy at first, but if you'll give me a few minutes to get to know you, we'll be besties. And I promise to be your snuggle pup! Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around 24/7. I know sit, down, stay, high five, orbit, between, and wait. Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in water from the hose. In case I wasn't clear enough on that, I LOVE PLAYING IN THE WATER!!!. My favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and am good at being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’d do best in a home with older children because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and that will make YOU happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection #BoxerMix #AdoptDontShop #RescueDog #DogsofKC #SmartPup #PlayfulPup #ForeverHomeNeeded #KCAdopt #DogLovers #pawsitivetailskc

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the mere sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop
