Story
This adorable honey-colored pup with the cute bunny ears is Sparrow! She is 6 years old and approximately 40 lbs. This cuddly girl loves snuggling up close on the couch, zoomies in the yard, and rides in the car to McDonalds for chicken nuggies! She is medium energy, crate trained and potty trained. She’s a fast learner and loves to work for treats! Sparrow has limited eyesight and can be a little skittish. However, she can do basically anything a sighted dog can do! We believe she can do well in a home with older kids or dogs with supervising adults. Sparrow needs a family who understand her special needs. Sparrow will also be undergoing heartworm treatments, sponsored by Philly Bully Team. She will be able to go home after her first injection but her family will need to take her to her remaining visits.

Story
Mac is an adorable older dog with the cutest puppy dog eyes 👀 His age is just a number because he has energy for days! He is potty trained and crate trained. He can sometimes bark for the first 10 mins in the crate but then settles down ❤️ Mac is a bull in a china shop 😂 He is learning manners and how to adjust to being in a home. The main things he is working on in foster care are impulse control, leash skills, and learning an off switch. He is one of the snuggliest dogs I have met 🥰 His love language is 100% physical touch, he would crawl under your skin if he could 😂 Mac makes some very funny sounds… One of my favorites is when he purrs (snores) while getting goooood pets! He is seriously an amazing dog and would make a lot of families very happy!!!

Story
Liam ACCT-A-213908 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Liam must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by THURSDAY, MARCH 20TH at 10AM. Should Liam’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Liam is a friendly and affectionate boy who’s ready to find a loving home! He greets new people with a loose body and a wagging tail, always eager to make a connection. Though he’s a strong pup who pulls on the leash, he responds well to guidance—just a firm “no” helps him refocus, and he happily sit for treats, which he takes gently. Liam allows handling well and enjoys attention, showing off his big heart -and big head to match! He’s looking for a friend who can provide him with love, structure, and plenty of walks to match his energy. If you’re searching for a loyal and happy companion, Liam is waiting to meet you! Liam has met other dogs while at the shelter and was humping them a lot. He would do best with a dog who will tolerate this behavior. If you have any dogs at home, please bring them along for a meet! Due to his length of stay, Liam is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. VIDEOS: Shira and Liam pt 1: https://youtu.be/yPHTiIjMwfw?feature=shared Shira and Liam pt 2: https://youtu.be/0YT-tRaSuLs?feature=shared BEHAVIOR: Per staff 3/14: During the meet, he really wanted to mount the other dog. She gave appropriate corrections, but he kept going back to mount her again. He's a lot of energy and would probably do better with a dog who can match that and is also very tolerant. Per volunteer 3/13: Strong but calms down after going to the bathroom. Per volunteer 3/9: Got Liam out for some playtime today. He is a very strong boy on his leash and will pull if you let him. A stern no, stopped him in his tracks and he was happy to turn around for treats and took them gently. He’s a big boy with a big heart and a huge head to match. Liam likes attention and wants to be the center of it. Wish there was a yard for him to run around in, because I bet he’d be a blast for playtime. Once back inside he didn’t want to return to his kennel. We made a game out of it, tossing treats, and encouraging him excitedly, and he dashed right in! Per volunteer 3/7: Hates returning to kennel. Pulls. Per staff 3/6: In playgroup, Liam was highly aroused and sexually motivated. He was humping the other dogs a lot. He also was very pushy and rowdy with the other dogs most of the time. He was not wearing a muzzle the whole time, but got very pushy when he was not wearing one. Per staff 3/3: Assisted in returning Liam to his ISO kennel as he was giving trouble for the ACA's. He refused to go back when I offered him treats so I used and under belly loop and some leash pressure. Per staff 2/26: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Liam was in a crate due to space. He was laying down and stood up with soft eyes and mid level wags. He initially stepped away from the leash but after sniffing it he allowed the handler to easily leash him and exited without issue. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately / strongly. Very strong when he wants to be! HANDLING: Once in the yard Liam sniffed around and explored and then came back over to us with mid level wags and soft eyes. He was very focused on sniffing around and exploring, not caring about engaging with us much, but when he did he had loose relaxed body language. He allowed all over handling from both of us while out. No interest in treats at all. PLAY: No interest TOYS: No interest Per staff 2/25: As I was pulling into the parking lot I saw a woman walk Liam to the ISO play yard and abandon him before driving away. I approached the play yard, where Liam greeted me through the fence with a loose body and wagging tail. He allowed me to leash him with no issues and I walked him inside. He is very strong and pulls on his leash. Once inside, he was friendly and solicited some attention from me, and let us scan him for a chip. No issues seen with him other than him pulling hard on his leash. MEDICAL: On 2/28, Liam was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. He tested positive for pneumovirus, but retested negative on 3/7. On 3/14, he was prescribed azithromycin due to having a persistent URI after finishing his other medication. During his intake exam on 2/26, Liam’s eyes and ears were red and his teeth had yellow discoloration. Overall, he appeared healthy and was friendly. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Story
Meet Roxy Lubin! Roxy is 3 years 9 months old, and found herself surrendered to the shelter when her owners no longer had the time or financial means to care for her. Roxy lived with adults as well as a four year old child, with her owner describing her as "great with kids." Roxy was fully housebroken and crate trained, sleeping through the night in her crate, though she could use a helping paw learning leash manners (she likes to pull a bit!). Roxy has a high energy level and would LOVE the opportunity for a more active family setting where she can get plenty of walks and exercise each day. Walks are one of her favorite activities, along with playing with other animals. Roxy's toy of choice is a ball, she loves Busy Bones and Kongs as treats, and she already knows the commands "Sit," "Down," and "Wait." Behaviorally, Roxy has a bit of "stranger danger" and can be nervous or shy when it comes to new people, as well as new dogs. That being said, Roxy has never been aggressive towards a person or dog and simply needs a little time to get to know them before she feels comfortable! Roxy is noted to be super friendly with children. However, she is not a big fan of cats so she would prefer a home with no pets or just other dogs (if they meet each other first and get along well). When asked what Roxy's ideal family and home life would be, her owners made this request: "A loving family that would take her to the park, make her feel like she’s part of the family, that will travel with her. Roxy is very smart, eager to learn, and she’s very aware of her environment. Roxy is a beautiful, playful loving dog, great with kids." Here in the shelter, Roxy is still settling in and is on the fearful, nervous side. Staff noted on 3/2 that they were unable to do a physical exam on Roxy due to her fear level. However, with a slow and gentle approach Roxy is sure to come around and show her true personality. Don't miss out on this sweetheart - meet Roxy at ACCT Philly, any day from 10am to 6pm! Videos: Running with Roxy Luben https://youtube.com/shorts/8VDiN-z-h4M?feature=shared Roxy Luben tries to fetch, prefers pets https://youtube.com/shorts/QYBjpT1VJM8?feature=shared Behavior notes: 03/04/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Roxy L was in her crate alert barking with wide dilated eyes and a high wagging tail. I reached in with the leash and she sniffed it curiosity before letting me secure it. After securing it she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally to moderately HANDLING : In the room, Roxy L sniffed around curiously while avoiding me. I called her over many times but she wagged and looked away. She would only approach whenever I wasn't paying attention or had a treat. She jumped up on my lap at one point as I was typing and sniffing my face while wagging her tail. She allowed all over handling and took a treat from me gently. She wasn't the biggest fan of her back legs being held or touched but would just stiffen up. PLAY: No interest TOYS: No interest 03/03/2025 volunteer notes: what a sweet little lady. Roxy Luben is very gentle but she does need a little time to warm up to new friends. Currently staying in a crate due to space, she was no trouble to leash and walked outside with ease. She relieved herself as soon as we got outside, indicating she may be house trained. She was fearful of the loud cars passing by in the yard, so we headed to the cemetery nextdoor to seek a more quiet environment. At the cemetery she opened up and we went for an easy 1.5 mile run! About halfway through our time together, Roxy and I took a short break to get to know each other better. When I reached down to pet her, she flinched at first, so I crouched down to her level and she approached me without issue and accepted all over pets. With some baby talk she was wagging her long tail and even gave me a little nose to nose boop! Her previous owner said she likes to be a part of the family and adventure — I can definitely see that! She’s a fun little lady who is enjoys comfort and seeks connection. No issues heading back into the shelter or returning Roxy to her crate. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. Story
Bonnie was rescued from the Philly ACCT in September. She is the sweetest dog around people. She is iffy with other dogs she has some dog friends that she plays with regularly. She loves chasing squirrels and cats so a home with out them would be best. She loves running around and is quite good off leash with a good (but not perfect) recall. Currently trying to rehome her because she does not get along with my partners dog! Bonnie would do well in a home where she has space to roam around and explore. A park or yard near by would make her very happy as well as she loves to play fetch. At night she is the biggest snuggle bug and she love to sleep in on the weekends! Bonnie knows sit, paw, stop, high five, come, down and bring it. Bonnie will come with her crate, toys and leash.
