Story
Jumba is a 4 year old, 54lb, male pittie who was surrendered to a local vet office. His former owners said that they couldn't get weight on him, so they were choosing to have him euthanized. The vets office discovered that he was polluted with parasites, lyme disease positive and had urine scalding on his legs, tail and abdomen from being kept in a crate for long periods of time. This poor boy deserved better, so that's where we come in! Jumba is as sweet as they come. He loves people, even though they haven't been nice to him in the past - he is forgiving and so sweet. When meeting other dogs, Jumba did great! Cats are a no. He is recovering in a one of our foster homes where they will work with him on basic commands like house training, crate training and leash walking. His neuter is scheduled for 3/31. This is one happy, sweet boy.Jumba's adoption fee is $150.00 which includes his neuter, vaccines including DHLPPC vaccines, Lyme vaccines Kennel Cough vaccine, Rabies vaccine, Heartworm testing (negative), Lyme treatment and Microchip with lifetime registration. If you want to meet Jumba with hopes to make him part of your family, be sure to FIRST apply on our website for approval: https://www.theroadhomeanimalproject.org/companion-adoption-form-pdf.html ***100% of adoption fees go back to the animals and help provide for medical care for our rescues that need specialized medical care and surgeries. *Note: Ideally, ALL members of the family (canine and human alike) should be present for any meet and greet unless otherwise specified/discussed. Please remember that we are a board of entirely volunteers that have full time jobs as well as our rescue passion. Story
Neptune is a magnificent 3-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier who was surrendered by his owner on August 29, 2024. Neptune may look familiar to some of our volunteers and Facebook fans since Neptune was originally bought to the HSOV on December 14, 2023 after he was found on State Route 7 in the Marietta/Reno Ohio area. Neptune was not wearing a collar, but a microchip was detected. Our shelter staff attempted to locate his owner through the microchip data but was unable to do so since the individual to whom the microchip was registered had re-homed Neptune to a 'friend-of-a-friend' and no longer had any contact information (sigh). This handsome guy has a sleek chocolate brown-and-white coat, white markings on his legs/paws, a long tail with a white tip on the end, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a chocolate nose on his pink/white muzzle, and cute 'cartoon ears'. You cannot look at Neptune's mischievous-looking face without smiling. Neptune has a playful, fun-loving personality. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver who accompanied Neptune for his outdoor photos on December 16th. Neptune thoroughly enjoyed his '15-minutes of fame' and (like all of the HSOV dogs), he loved Emily. Neptune weighs 62 lbs and is strong on the other end of a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Neptune was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Since Neptune was not reclaimed, he was neutered on February 15, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. We did our usual 'Happy Dance' when Neptune was adopted on March 2, 2024 .. But Neptune's time in his new home was short-lived since he was returned to HSOV on April 24, 2024. Neptune is a happy boy with a very outgoing personality. We were happy for Neptune when he was adopted on June 26, 2024 .. And we were sad for Neptune when he came back to HSOV on August 29, 2024 through no fault of his own. Neptune was loved by his new family

Story
Dezik is a handsome 2-year old male American Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier who was surrendered by his owner on August 1, 2024 along with Dezik's beautiful companion (Laika) since their family was no longer in a position to take care of their beloved pets. Dezik has a sleek black coat with a large white bib on his chest, a rather long body, a long tail, and an adorable chubby face with dark brown eyes, a splash of white on his muzzle, a blue/charcoal gray nose, and short floppy ears. Dezik has the cutest 'smile'. Dezik is a happy boy with a friendly, easygoing personality. He was the perfect gentleman when HSOV Kennel Tech Tim Swaney accompanied him for his photo session on August 2nd 2024. Dezik weighs 65 lbs and walked well on a leash with Tim by his side. Dezik appears to be housetrained. Dezik will be neutered before being adopted by his new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). Dezik could be fostered while he awaits his neuter procedure with an approved HSOV foster-/adoption application.

Story
Nader is a beautiful 4-year old female American Staffordshire Terirer who was brought to the HSOV on September 9, 2024 after she was found on Franklin Street in Marietta Ohio. Nader was wearing a collar but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped. Nader has a sleek auburn/brown short smooth coat with white marking on her neck/check, a long thin tail, and an adorable chubby Staffordshire face with amber-colored eyes, a red/liver-colored nose, and semi-erect ears. This sweet girl has a friendly disposition and loves attention. Nader enjoyed soft plush stuffed toys during her first day in our shelter even though she plays rough with them and they don't survive very long. These photos of Nader were taken late in the afternoon on September 9, 2024 when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied Nader for outdoor glamour pictures. Nader ran a few laps around Jared to show off her 'body beautiful' then decided needed some more attention from Jared .. And quickly rewarded him with some nice doggy kisses. Nader is a full-figured girl who currently weighs 76.2 lbs. She walked fairly well on a leash for Jared. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nader will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. We hope that her family (or someone will recognize her and help us reunited Nader with her people). She is very sad being in an unfamiliar place and cries for attention when she is left alone.

Story
Steven is a handsome 4-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Echo Valley Road in the Waterford Ohio area. Steven was accompanied by his best friend Arlo (an adult Yellow Labrador Retriever) who is also in our shelter. Neither of these boys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Steven has a chocolate brown-and-white coat, a long tail, and an adorable chubby face with dark brown eyes, a brown patch around his right eye, a black button nose, and semi-erect ears. Steven is a very frightened boy who shows his fear by barking loud and fast when anyone approaches him or makes eye contact. Our kennel techs are still doing their best to gain Steven's trust since he isn't sure who he can trust. We have kept Arlo with Steven in their own 'bachelor's pad' where they have the freedom of not being in a kennel. Interestingly, Arlo enjoys being petted and when Steven sees Arlo getting pets .. then Steven wants them as well. Neither Steven nor Arlo accepts cats into their circle of friends and cannot be trusted to be nice to them. Steven is a muscular boy who weighs 68 lbs. These photos were taken on December 7th 'through the looking glass' (the panes of glass on the door to the boys' apartment) since Steven wasn't quite ready to walk on a leash for outdoor photos. One (or both) of the boys had been licking the glass or putting their paws on the panes, so several of their photos are blurry for that reason (smile). In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Steven and Arlo will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership.
