Story
My name is Apollo, and I just turned three years old in December 2024. I’ve now been at NAS for over one year and all I’m wishing for is a family of my own. I was found as a stray initially and have been growing up in the shelter and my foster home. I can be described as a big toddler who doesn`t know my size. I LOVE to play tug and show off the toys I find around the room or the yard. Also, my #1 favorite thing is cuddling. I love to burrow underneath the covers and snuggle up with my favorite people. If I’m not under the covers, I`ll crawl up into your arms so you can hold me. I know I`m not a little guy, but I`m not too big to hold, right? I`m also very good at walks, but I need to be reminded sometimes not to pull on my leash. My foster parents say I`m really smart and that I`m really quick to learn new tricks, especially when food is involved. I know all kinds of tricks now, and I`m a very good listener. Sometimes I get a little too excited when I`m around other dogs, but I am muzzle trained. I would do best in a home without cats since they are extremely exciting to chase. I haven`t had experience living with another dog, but I could potentially live with a very calm dog after slow introductions. Because of my size and rough play style, I`d do well in a home with older children or adults.I like spending time outside so I can get my daily zoomies in. When I`m inside, I love to look out the window so I can let my foster parents know who`s out there. Lastly, I have a really expressive face and I`m good at using it to communicate my needs, whether it`s dinner time, play time, or I need to go outside. I hope to meet you soon! I really don’t want to spend another birthday without my forever family. Please note:- Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed.-Applications can be downloaded from our website. Story
Meet the beautiful Kamiah! This gentle lady came to us after her owner unexpectedly passed away. After getting spayed and receiving some well-deserved TLC in a foster home, she is looking for her forever family with a comfy couch she can claim a spot on. This is what Kamiah`s foster has to say about her: Kamiah is a super easy dog, very independent. She is easy to please, and enjoys spending her days sleeping and snuggling. She also enjoys walks. She occasionally plays with soft toys, likes to chew on antlers, bones and benebone type chews. She doesn`t really care for the cold. She will go outside to potty and then want to go inside as soon as she`s done. She`s crate trained, but is also a good girl when left to roam the house when the family is gone. She sleeps next to my bed every night, and occasionally on my bed. Kamiah has met people of all ages and sizes, and she loves them all equally. She`s met dogs of all breeds and sizes/ages and does well! We`re unsure of how she is with cats, but I imagine she would do just fine with slow introductions to feline friends. Some toxic traits of Kamiah’s are: drinking out of the toilet if the lid is left up and occasional counter surfing to find yummy human food. When first entering our care, Kamiah had some growths removed. This perfect girl currently has a clean bill of health, but it will be important that her new family keeps monitoring for any future growths (as these will need to be tested and potentially removed as well). Kamiah is currently receiving Cytopoint injections for her allergies (this is about $230.00 per injection every 4-6 weeks) and this is most likely a lifelong medication. Story
Get ready for non-stop fun and kisses with Waldo! This little ball of energy is not only an expert cuddler but also a zoomie pro! This goof ball`s signature moves are spinning in circles just because he`s so happy, and flailing his legs as he runs after toys. Waldo loves giving kisses and receiving belly rubs, and his sweet, affectionate nature has melted the heart of everyone he meets. He wants to be friends with every dog he sees, and will play bow and spin around to show his excitement! He`s working on his intros to other dog friends, since sometimes his quirky antics come off a little strong to other dogs. Although he can be timid when meeting new people, it doesn`t take long for him to climb up onto anyone`s lap and generously give kisses. We believe Waldo would do well in a home with older children, but sometimes young kids and their energy is intimidating for him. We aren`t sure how Waldo would do in a home with cats at this time. Story
Meet Junior! He`s been decompressing and getting some much needed TLC in an amazing foster home, but is on the hunt for his forever family! He`s completely potty-trained, loves meeting new people that visit, and enjoys learning new things when treats are involved. Like all dogs, Junior is still working on quirks. Junior is nervous about traveling in the car and this is something he’s working on. Junior also gets very excited by squirrels and bunnies on walks and wants to chase them, making some walks more eventful than others. Here`s what his foster parents have to say about him:Junior is always smiling, and it is the sweetest thing. He is crate trained, he really doesn’t need a crate, but he does like his crate. He is very resilient; he’s been through a lot over the last month or two and he has come through it so well. Junior has not tried to “steal” anything from the dining room table or counters. We have not invited him into our bedrooms or on our furniture. He has not tried to get to any of them. That said, he loves to snuggle. If you are looking for a poochie that will climb into bed with you or hang out on the couch with you, we suspect he’d be there in about 1.5 seconds if you ask him. Junior has met young and old people in our home, and he loves them all. He also does not seem to have a preference between male and female humans. His favorite human if the one that is giving him attention. Junior thinks he`s a big lap dog and loves to be near people. If you want a snuggly poochie, Junior is your dog! This snuggly goofball is looking for a home without other pets. Story
Meet Duane. This gentle soul ended up in our care after his owner unexpectedly passed. He has not had a lot of exposure to other dogs, but has been doing well with meeting new friends here at the shelter. He has had some exposure to cats and seems to ignore them unless they have food. Duane loves lounging on his dog bed, going for walks, playing with stuffies, and snuggling up for a nap, but be warned he is a bit of a snorer. He seems to love being around people and enjoys getting attention from anyone and everyone. Warm rays of sunshine and back scratches are my favorite, but I especially love car rides! I may do ok with another male dog but no female dogs and no cats for me please.
