Story
This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old anyways 95 pounds. He was very thin when we first got him, but he’s looking great now. He is neutered, up-to-date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. This guy would be a great dog for an active loving family. He’s so sweet! If you would like to be Charlie’s forever family please email dogs4mylife@ gmail.com or olmc7@ hotmail.com. If you are inquiring from a Gmail address. It is best to use our Gmail address or you might have to look for us in your spam.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Justin is a big, sweet, friendly adolescent who loves people and mostly loves dogs. He is very good in the house, has never chewed anything he shouldn't, is well house trained, and is very playful.  He does like to counter-surf, however. We have introduced  him to our dogs carefully; he is friendly and wants to play, but can be food and toy possessive.  He seems to be getting much better with time. He's learning to look for treats while on walks instead of pulling — and also that he doesn't have to bark excitedly at people and dogs he sees! He would do well with an owner experienced with working on positive training methods to help him learn manners and how to be calm with new experiences. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. January 29, 2025, 4:51 pm

Story
Jack is a very large and incredibly awesome Anatolian Shepherd with a heart as big as his paws! This handsome boy is the calmest dog in his foster home but still has plenty of playful energy. He loves spending time with his person (for now, that’s his foster, but he’s ready to find his forever human!) and enjoys pets, brushing, and outdoor adventures. Jack is happiest when he’s outside, whether it’s going for a car ride or just soaking up the fresh air. He thrives on companionship and would love a home where he can be by your side. He does shed quite a bit, but he loves being brushed—so he’s always up for a good grooming session! Jack would do best in a home without small dogs or cats, as he’s not a fan of them. Given his size and breed, we’d love to find an adopter who has experience with Anatolian Shepherds or has done their research on the breed. He will thrive with a family that understands his guardian instincts and can provide him with the structure, space, and love he deserves.

Story
Meet Rufus! This four-year-old 57-pound Anatolian shepherd mix is a fun-loving guy who just can't wait to spend his days with a loving family of his own! Not only is this pup one handsome fella, he's ready to impress! Rufus knows several commands including sit, down, and rollover. He doesn't hesitate to show off his skills for a tasty treat which he takes very gently. Rufus loves to run in the yard with his fellow kennel mates and a yard of his own to explore is a must for this curious and charismatic guy! Based on our evaluation, we feel Rufus will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. He may have the potential to live with other dogs as he has done well with them here at the kennel. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you'd like the chance to make Rufus part of your family, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this happy-go-lucky guy!
