Story
*** BREED EXPERIENCED OWNERS ONLY, PLEASE *** 'NASH' is a handsome, 3 yr. old, 75 lb. German/Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix male, that has 'double dew claws' on his back legs. Nash is a big couch potato and a silly boy. Nash knows basic commands: sit, wait, break (release), come and shake, and he will gladly practice each for a treat or a meal. Nash is a sweet, smart, affectionate and obedient boy, but initially leery of strangers. On leash, without distractions, he is a good boy and a pleasure to walk. Nash likes to play fetch and loves his treats, both which are great ways to win him over, make him more comfortable, and begin bonding. Nash warms to you and loves being petted, sitting next to you, and just basically 'hanging out'. Nash's optimal home would be a quiet, low stimulation one with a confident, calm, breed-experienced owner willing to help him build confidence as he matures and knows how to positively direct and mitigate/manage the breed characteristic traits of guard dogs through exercise, training and positive reinforcement techniques. (He is both highly food motivated as well as praise driven). A home with high energy, volume or traffic would not suit Nash, so children would not a good fit with him. Nash loves other dogs, especially playful females. Through a fence he may bark, but then run alongside with others. He has a strong prey drive and is territorial, so he needs a fenced in yard. Nash is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not do its own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition. Story
Hello!! My Name is Precious. I AM IN FOSTER AND NOT AT THE SHELTER! Please call the shelter to schedule a time to meet me!My foster mom reports that I love other dogs and they really help me to settle in at home. I am a timid little lady and the world feels very scary to me...but when I have a dog companion, I find my way and feel as if I belong. Because I find such comfort in other dogs, I am required to be adopted into a family who has a dog! I am one smart cookie and enjoy learning. My foster mom says I am currently working on: Sit, Shake, Other paw (when shaking), Lay down, Sit up, Off (counters, furniture, people), Leave it (when she’s being a pest to another dog or trying to take something that isn’t hers), Drop it (when she already has the thing that isn’t hers or when she picks up a mystery item in the yard, as well as when we’re playing fetch and she returns with the ball/toy). Precious loves to learn and would do fantastic in a family who enjoys learning with her! She is a young dog with a busy brain and needs to use it! As she continues to grow and come out of her shell, training will help her feel smart, confident, and ready to take on the world. Other fun facts about Precious: she adores toys and playing fetch, as well as zooming all around the yard. Precious is already potty trained and crate trained. She is one snuggly little lady and will cuddle up for down time. Although Precious absolutely adores other dogs, she can be too rough when playing with small dogs (she loves them TOO much!). She will do best in a home with another dog that is at least her size or bigger. Precious also has two things she`d like to admit...she is a thief and she does not understand personal space! She enjoys finding random objects in order to tease her foster mom...when her foster mom tries to see what she has or ask her to drop it, Miss Precious takes off! She zooms away in excitement, proud of her sneaky ways and very much enjoying her silly game. As for personal space? Well, hopefully you do not require any; she likes to be as close to you as possible!Precious is a very special girl and will require multiple meet and greets due to her shy behavior and fear of strangers. She does warm up to new people! But it can take her a little to trust. If you are interested in Precious, call today to arrange an appointment to meet this wonderful girl!Few can resist a puppy.
