Story
I took Niko in back in August 24 from someone who bit off a little more than they could chew with him. It was only supposed to be temporary, but I owned one of these dogs (that looked JUST him) for 12 years until he passed in 2017 so I was very familiar with the breed and tried to talk myself into keeping him. I just don't have the time and space that he deserves. I travel a lot and and am gone most of the day on most days, leaving him at home alone. He is trained to be come and go inside/outside using a dog door anytime he wants. He is not allowed up on the furniture, and is not allowed to cross the thresholds into the kitchen area. I have a timed feeder and auto water dispenser that he uses. He'll jump in back of the truck on his own for short rides. He is loving and protective. His ideal owner is an experienced dog owner/family with space for him to roam and do what he was bred to do - protect. All of his comforts will come with him - feeders, leashes, brushes, backpack etc.

Story
I have tested heartworm positive. This means I have a parasite and need treatment. While my friends at HSNBA desperately want to help me, the shelter is too stressful an environment to undertake treatment and treatment itself is very expensive. The shelter has a few options to help with treatment, and if I steal your heart you should talk with them and your vet about what my treatment is like. For more information on heartworms, please visit the American Heartworm Society here https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basicsI am currently in a foster home and not at HSNBA, if you are interested in meeting me, please contact the nice folks at HSNBA so they can put you in contact with my foster family to set up a meet & greet. E-mail HSNBA at adoption@hsnba.org, call us at: (830) 629-5287 or stop by and speak with the folks at HSNBA at 3353 Morningside Dr. to get your information sent over to my foster home. My foster family is the best and can give you more information on me.HSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight. Some of these animals may not be available for adoption at this moment, but you can always call the shelter at 830-629-5287 for clarification on the adoption process or the animal's current status.

Story
We adopted Olive when she was about 1 year old from Petsmart. She has been a great family dog for us. Our family has to travel for work for the next year, so we are no longer in a position to take care of her. She is now 5. We have two small children and she has been great with them. She is very patient and lazy. When we first got her, we lived in a small apartment, and she actually did well in it. She is big and doesnt move around much. She would not be good for someone really active who wants a dog to run or go for long walks. She is not crate trained and refuses to get close to a crate. Other than that, she is a good listener and we have not had any issues with her. We also have three big beds, leashes, and lots of toys to give away with her. Overall, she is a great family dog or a low-energy companion.

Story
Otto was surrendered to a shelter because his owner had cancer and could no longer care for him. This guys wants nothing more than to be in a home with love and comfort. A Great Dane rescue volunteer saw this sweet guys and immediately posted him to try and save him. He is eight years old but he has energy since he is a mixed breed. He gets along with other dogs. What he wants more than anything is love and attention, and a couch or nice bed to curl up on. It is his favorite activity second to nice walks. But he is also happy to hang out in the yard and on the couch. If you have other dogs, he really seems to want to play but my dogs are older and have no interest, so he just leaves them alone. Otto is just a sweet guy looking for love. (Trying to see if he would be good with cats. I only have outdoor cats and he generally doesn't even notice them until they run.)
