Story
Marcel is a 2.5-year-old, 45-pound standard poodle who was born and raised in an Amish puppy mill. His early life was far from ideal, as he spent his beginning in a confined and stressful environment, used solely for breeding. Despite these tough beginnings, Marcel's gentle nature has always shone through. He is skittish, a trait shaped by his limited exposure to the outside world and human interaction. Loud noises and sudden movements can easily startle him, but beneath this nervous exterior lies a sweet and loving soul. With a soft touch and kind words, Marcel quickly warms up, revealing his gentle disposition. Marcel is making significant strides in his new life outside the mill. He is adapting well to crate training, finding a sense of security in his own space, and is house broken. This small, safe haven helps him feel more comfortable as he learns about the world around him. Every day, Marcel shows progress. He follows his foster mom around the house and even rested his chin on her knee for pets. With patience and care, he is slowly discovering the joys of being a cherished pet rather than a breeding dog. His journey is one of resilience and hope as he learns to trust, love, and be loved in return. Marcel is fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Umbra! She's a one-year-old, 33lb standard poodle. Umbra was found as a stray, severely underweight, and with matted fur, suggesting she had never been groomed in her life. Her very puppy-like behavior indicates she has not been well-socialized. Umbra enjoys in the company of dogs of all sizes and ages in her foster home, where she's learning the ropes and embracing the companionship. As she continues to adapt to her foster home, she is learning the joy of playing with toys and romping in the yard with her canine friends. She very much enjoys playing fetch with tennis balls. Umbra also enjoys being as close to her human as possible. While she's already comfortable with both women and men, she hasn't had the chance to interact with children or cats. Umbra is currently working on learning manners. She's very affectionate and will invade your personal space to show her love, but she responds well to redirection. With medium to high energy, Umbra would thrive in an active household where she can burn off her puppy energy. She does well in a crate and is doing great with potty training. Umbra already knows how to sit and shake, walks well on a leash, and with consistent structure and training, she will blossom into an amazing dog. Umbra is fostered in Liberty Township, OH. Her adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Meet MARSHMALLOW, a darling little girl who is every bit as sweet and fluffy as her name suggests. Marshmallow is about 18 months old and fully grown at just 15 pounds. She is a poodle mix, probably a Poodle/Bichon cross or Poodle/Havanese cross. She came to us from a hoarding/backyard breeder case where we're told they were breeding Havapoos, Cavapoos and Poochons. Marshmallow is a friendly little girl with a sweet disposition. She's slightly timid when meeting new people but easily be won over with yummy treats. She walks well on a leash and is a perfect passenger in the car. Marshmallow has never known life as an only dog and is very playful. She MUST go to a home with another playful dog. Marshmallow's coat is currently a bit overgrown and messy, she is a dog who MUST be groomed regularly. Her adopter should be prepared for this expense every 6 weeks or so. In order to complete all of the vetting covered by Marshmallow's adoption fee, she must go to a home in the Greater Cincinnati area. No exceptions. If you're outside the tristate area and you apply, we may not even bother to send you a rejection email. If you would like to meet Marshmallow and give her the loving home she deserves, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to schedule a private meet with an APPROVED adopter. Please don't expect to show up at an adoption event and meet her THEN put in an application. Odds are you will be too late. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.
