Story
I do daycare and boarding in our home. I first got Ray as a client but the owners died and Ray was passed to me. I am not a good fit for pups who need a forever home. Too much stimulation and too many dogs coming and going. RAY IS A SPECIAL NEEDS DOG BECAUSE: The Aussie is a herding dog and as such they get the herd moving by nipping. Ray was never trained NOT to do that at his original owners home. There were issues there, so any stranger coming or staying in the house, he will try to nip and is usually successful. THIS IS NOT AN AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR!!! This is why he wears an E-collar when friends or family come to visit. He MUST wear this for at least 6 months. WHAT THE ADOPTER MUST HAVE: 1. Experience with Aussies!!!!!!!! And the herding group. 2. Preferably female. He bonds with females easily. 3. Understand this particular breed and the nipping issue and make sure you take the correct action. IE. making sure Ray is wearing the Ecollar when visitors are in the home.
